Not a lot to report on the news front this week. The entire month of December is one long winding down of actual news as everyone starts taking vacations. It will be especially pronounced this year with Christmas on a Friday.

On that note, tell me what your favorite moments on Fark were this year. Favorite weird articles, discussion threads, or anything else that made you laugh out loud? Bonus points if alcohol was not a factor.

Italian president shot and killed.
2009-12-07 12:40:53 PM
There were a lot of good threads this year, but the one that made me laugh the hardest was Sorry Tom, I got my thumb in the picture. No wait. That's your face
2009-12-07 12:41:37 PM
2009-12-07 12:52:31 PM
Long before the Glenn Beck controversy, there was this litigious douchebag.

Fun Fact: This thread is still the number one Google result for the term "litigious douchebag".
2009-12-07 12:54:47 PM
Best headline last week that wasn't greenlit:

Italian President shot
(only because of the link it went to.. you have to get the reference)

Damn you, that was genius!

2009-12-07 12:56:38 PM
That one headline that said we were intelligent.
2009-12-07 01:14:31 PM
Can't think of one single hed or thread because Fark is an aggregate of its many parts, and there is always funny stuff in the queue. There are some very creative Farkers out there. Just as well they're letting off steam here rather than channeling their energies into making bombs or something.
2009-12-07 01:21:37 PM
bongmiester: Get ready to guess who farted, y'all: introducing your Miss South Carolina 2009 contestants (linky pop)

Oh yes. The thread where we were introduced to Miss Caroline Byrd and she showed up to talk to us.
2009-12-07 01:23:21 PM
Any TSG mugshot thread
2009-12-07 01:23:25 PM
While I have no specific examples, I can say with near certainty that whatever it is that made me laugh the hardest, came from TFD.
2009-12-07 01:48:00 PM
The funniest thread by far this year was in TFD, but it's gone. It did involve a lot of DERPing.
2009-12-07 01:51:03 PM
It'd have to be exit 69, Bob.
2009-12-07 02:02:19 PM
Germans bomb Pearl Harbor.

/too soon?
2009-12-07 02:05:03 PM
i guess it really is between balloon boy and tiger woods for funniest story of the year.
2009-12-07 02:05:34 PM
Forget the actual headline, but it was in reference to a very slow news day somewhere in NY...there was an article about a police officer pulling someone over.
Though the "thumb face" one is a very very close second....
2009-12-07 02:06:55 PM
Any of Patrick Tribbet's threads. C'mon, give the guy his dues. The threads were all that Fark is--juvenile humour, memes, sarcasm, trolls, flames, a small dash of wit and even some genuine and heart-felt sympathy for the guy.
2009-12-07 02:07:39 PM
This picture, right here.

Second place goes to the story about the Hellen Keller statue and how hiding from the Nazis really paid off.

/damn near wet em, especially looking at Hellen's twitter
2009-12-07 02:08:27 PM
This one (new window) made my boyfriend (he was in the room when I read it) laugh for about 10 minutes, and he still thinks of it and laughs later.
2009-12-07 02:09:15 PM
Out of the political threads, I'd say the GOP budget proposal discussion cracked me up the most.

/former GOP budget analyst
//long ago, off my lawn
2009-12-07 02:10:07 PM
I think these two stand out as the most memorable for me.
2009-12-07 02:10:24 PM
None of the headlines were terribly funny this week.
2009-12-07 02:11:11 PM
The BesiktasBoy83's comment and all the retorts in this thread (new egyptian cotton sheets) were the most memorable for me
2009-12-07 02:12:07 PM
Seth'n'Spectrum: I think these two stand out as the most memorable for me.

Oh wait, sorry, I misread. Story or thread, not headline. I take those two back then.
2009-12-07 02:12:28 PM
Sorry to say it, but the most memorable thing on Fark this year by a long shot was "My daddy ate my eyes."

Fark you, humanity. Fark you. :-(
2009-12-07 02:13:02 PM
Just clicked on the Thumb Boy link...may have to change my vote...am already in tears.
2009-12-07 02:13:28 PM
dv-ous: Sorry to say it, but the most memorable thing on Fark this year by a long shot was "My daddy ate my eyes."

Fark you, humanity. Fark you. :-(

I don't remember seeing that.
2009-12-07 02:14:06 PM
personally, i thought this one was a great headline...
2009-12-07 02:15:25 PM
The whole Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield's ear thing was good for a few hours of entertainment....
2009-12-07 02:16:40 PM
This one involves Bawney Fwank

Link (new window)
2009-12-07 02:18:11 PM
I laugh every time there is a "farker so and so has died" politically correct sympathy thread. Hilariously ironic.
2009-12-07 02:22:22 PM

What about the truly epic thread about the mentally ill guy who made threats against the Whitehouse and then locked himself in his red Volkswagen?

Who can forget the nailbiting tension as we watched Failbot 1's tragic encounter with a curb? The wit and wisdom of Chopper Dave? The endless speculation about turn signals, whehter they'd send in another robot to rescue the first robot, and how one man can apparantly take an entire cannister of teargass to the face and still not get out of his car?

Truly, a great day to be a Farker.
2009-12-07 02:24:00 PM
not a great day for spellcheck though.
2009-12-07 02:25:43 PM
I've been herring that the last sardine plant in the U.S. may pack it in and are floundering over new catch restrictions. Oh Cod, say it's not true

Really? That made the cut?
2009-12-07 02:25:51 PM
This (new window) has to have been my favorite photoshop thread of the year, maybe ever.
2009-12-07 02:28:22 PM
Missicat: Forget the actual headline, but it was in reference to a very slow news day somewhere in NY...there was an article about a police officer pulling someone over.
The BEST!.

2009-12-07 02:28:42 PM
The few threads where Farkers pretended they cared about Iran and that they were making a difference in talking about it were pretty good.
Man, my memory sucks. I knew there were some good threads, but I can't really think of any right now. Any sex-related thread is usually funny in many ways.

I guess vote for this post if you thought the Iran threads were good, for whichever reason.
2009-12-07 02:35:45 PM
I'm excited the followup on the toy drive made headlines of the week- I still don't know who submitted that headline, but I loved it.

Honestly? That was my favorite thing on Fark this year but I'm biased.

Other than that, the Iran threads were pretty awesome.
2009-12-07 02:35:57 PM
I'm going to have to go with this one (new window), Phil.

Here's a hint:

/great beat
//you can dance to it
2009-12-07 02:36:16 PM
Seconded, the Miss South Carolina thread was amazing. First, the ridicule of the standard-fare blondes, then the discovery of the adorable freckled redhead, then her finding the site and posting a response on her blog "To the Fark people"...

Too amazing.

Super Chronic: This (new window) has to have been my favorite photoshop thread of the year, maybe ever.

THANK YOU!!! I was killing my brain trying to remember what that one was, forgot to bookmark.

By far one of the funniest PS threads in fark history next to dynamite monkey.
2009-12-07 02:42:09 PM
That one about the thing, and stuff.
2009-12-07 02:44:28 PM
The iReagan one became pure genius.
Had a great time learning about the history of our great nation in that thread.
2009-12-07 02:45:11 PM
Yeah, the 'homosexuals can't get into heaven' one was a winner in my book...
2009-12-07 02:45:23 PM
I realize that comedy is often tragedy plus time,
but I still feel sorry for that poor girl's family.
Either way, I got a couple of months of good clean fun at Glenn Beck's expense.
2009-12-07 02:45:55 PM
The English Major: dv-ous: Sorry to say it, but the most memorable thing on Fark this year by a long shot was "My daddy ate my eyes."

Fark you, humanity. Fark you. :-(

I don't remember seeing that.

The kid doesn't either.
2009-12-07 02:46:34 PM
Damn! I missed the Tebow thread.
2009-12-07 02:49:51 PM
Hawgwild - that's the one! THANKS!
