As the year draws to a close, Drew wants to know: what thread or story on Fark made you laugh the most this year? Also, some of Fark's favorite Headlines of the Week for 11/29 - 12/5 Posted by Drew at 2009-12-07 12:21:11 PM, edited 2009-12-07 12:36:12 PM (114 comments) | Permalink
Not a lot to report on the news front this week. The entire month of December is one long winding down of actual news as everyone starts taking vacations. It will be especially pronounced this year with Christmas on a Friday.
On that note, tell me what your favorite moments on Fark were this year. Favorite weird articles, discussion threads, or anything else that made you laugh out loud? Bonus points if alcohol was not a factor.
Headlines Of The Week for Sun 2009-11-29 to Sat 2009-12-05:
Can't think of one single hed or thread because Fark is an aggregate of its many parts, and there is always funny stuff in the queue. There are some very creative Farkers out there. Just as well they're letting off steam here rather than channeling their energies into making bombs or something.
Forget the actual headline, but it was in reference to a very slow news day somewhere in NY...there was an article about a police officer pulling someone over. The BEST! Though the "thumb face" one is a very very close second....
Any of Patrick Tribbet's threads. C'mon, give the guy his dues. The threads were all that Fark is--juvenile humour, memes, sarcasm, trolls, flames, a small dash of wit and even some genuine and heart-felt sympathy for the guy.
What about the truly epic thread about the mentally ill guy who made threats against the Whitehouse and then locked himself in his red Volkswagen?
Who can forget the nailbiting tension as we watched Failbot 1's tragic encounter with a curb? The wit and wisdom of Chopper Dave? The endless speculation about turn signals, whehter they'd send in another robot to rescue the first robot, and how one man can apparantly take an entire cannister of teargass to the face and still not get out of his car?

The few threads where Farkers pretended they cared about Iran and that they were making a difference in talking about it were pretty good. Man, my memory sucks. I knew there were some good threads, but I can't really think of any right now. Any sex-related thread is usually funny in many ways.
I guess vote for this post if you thought the Iran threads were good, for whichever reason.
Seconded, the Miss South Carolina thread was amazing. First, the ridicule of the standard-fare blondes, then the discovery of the adorable freckled redhead, then her finding the site and posting a response on her blog "To the Fark people"...
Super Chronic:This (new window) has to have been my favorite photoshop thread of the year, maybe ever. THIS! THANK YOU!!! I was killing my brain trying to remember what that one was, forgot to bookmark.
By far one of the funniest PS threads in fark history next to dynamite monkey.
I realize that comedy is often tragedy plus time, but I still feel sorry for that poor girl's family. Either way, I got a couple of months of good clean fun at Glenn Beck's expense.
