(CBS Chicago) Dumbass If you don't want to walk home in the cold, you could take a bus, or a cab, or even hitchhike. But for Fark's sake, don't carjack an off-duty cop. We guarantee you'll be sorry   (cbs2chicago.com) divider line 37

To be fair...aren't female cops really just meter maids?

And since when is a van called a carryall?
Sounds British to me.

The only thing that pisses me off about this story is that he is being charged with battery to a police officer. This kid didn't know it was a cop. Just charge him with regular battery.

You clearly haven't met some of the female cops on the CPD.

One day, the regular money escort called in sick, so the security company that my dad worked for asked him if he would take the money to the bank. Before he put the money in his vehicle, he double-checked his weapon.

Well, at a stoplight, some poor paperboy thought he'd make more money by banging on people's closed windows, rather than pestering only the ones whose windows were open. He approached my dad's car from the blindspot. In the space that it took my dad to jump because he was startled, he had already pulled his gun and was in the process of bringing it up when he realized what had happened. He holstered his gun, the kid probably shiat his pants, and my dad continued on his merry way to deliver the money to the bank.

In Tucson Arizona, it's open season on carjackers, no bag limit.

You don't even need a permit to carry a loaded handgun in your car.

Unless she informs him that, hey she's a cop and maybe he should look elsewhere.

"Aggravated fleeing"? Is that what cops charge you with when they can't catch you quick enough and run out of breath or lose you in a car chase?

This dick should be shot and tossed into a dumpster.

If he's punching women in the head just because it's cold outside, what do you think he'll get up to later on in life?

Hmmm?

George Floyd, of the 8200 block of South Marquette Avenue, was charged at 4 a.m. with vehicular hijacking, aggravated battery to a peace officer, and aggravated fleeing...

You dont meet many 17 year olds named "George" these days.

Aggravated usually means 'using a weapon' in the course of a crime...hence aggravated assault means you used a weapon. Most likely it's because he ran into things with the vehicle in his attempt to flee.

Someone should point out that it wasn't even all that unusually cold (for Chicago in the winter) last weekend.

Not that it would matter. I've walked home from the 'el' when it is well below zero and windy, and never felt that carjacking anyone to get out of the cold was an option. I did, however, contemplate suicide January of 1994 when I found myself stuck on an 'el' platform one evening and it was -20F.

Carjacking is essentially asking a random stranger if he or she would care to shoot you in the head without legal consequence.

/I can't believe that people still do it.

Because most people don't drive around with one hand on the steering wheel and the other hand cradling a loaded and cocked gun.

I think most people who carry in their cars actually do this to some degree.

Not "cocked" (what if it fell on the floor and went off!!)

but most certainly loaded, and easy to reach. Possibly in hand if somebody is uncomfortably near.

what I'd like to know is just how he carjacked a cop with only his fists. youd think she had some sort of training...maybe in self-defense, i dunno.

Law abiding individuals that can qualify for a concealed-carry permit and are being careful enough of their safety that they will go to the time and expense involved are also generally careful enough of their safety not to drive in areas where carjacking generally happen.

jackiepaper: what I'd like to know is just how he carjacked a cop with only his fists. youd think she had some sort of training...maybe in self-defense, i dunno.

An earlier poster suggested that since the victim was female she was probably a meter maid. While I don't think all females in law enforcement are meter maids I'm suspicious about this case.

I wish I lived where I could avoid any chance of trouble by simply choosing my route wisely! I would happily drive out of my way for a zero-crime guarantee.

My whole town is a crime zone. The only difference between neighborhoods is the odds. Some are high enough to avoid, but none of them is a zero.

You can get jacked in the middle of downtown at high noon, just depends on how bad a day somebody is having and how much they need a ride.

Or, you know, he could have just caught her off guard and beat the hell out of her. Not everyone is a super human with ninja reflexes.

the article said off duty police officer, meaning she's trained, even if he caught her by surprise, its unlikely he should be able to force her out of her car, unless he knocked her out with one punch.
