I'm glad to see they included the original "Black Christmas" on the list, but "Jingle All The Way"? What was scary about that horrible movie?

2009-12-06 07:08:18 PM
Gremlins?

2009-12-06 07:12:25 PM
Jack Frost or whatever starring Michael Keaton wasn't scary. It was sad. And I don't wanna see it again.

Jingle all the way was stupid.

Gremlins WAS scary.

No Scrooged? I know it's a comedy, but, some of the themes and scenes have haunted my dreams for years. O.o

Personally, I vote for 'Bad Santa' => psychopathic Billy Bob commandeers some senile old womans digs, forces a young white boy to eat his bologna, and then soils the sheets, & the hot tub, with the local fettich-incrusted skank...
Good Times, Good Times... luv it!

Jack Frost had this for a death scene (new window) Probably NSFW

So we got the first five Silent Night, Deadly Night movies, Black Christmas, Christmas Evil, and....?

Wait: Santa's Slay? COME ON!! This list is a joke.

I remember watching that with a few friends and we were almost hyperventilating, we were laughing so hard. Anyone who was actually terrified of that movie probably can't handle much more than The Muppets.

My old roommate found this on DVD and was delighted to share it with me. It is simultaneously awful, amusing, and creepy. Christmas Evil.

Santa's Sleigh is only notable because Bill Goldberg was trying to act beyond being a thuggish wrestler, and I'd really think only a wrestling fan could find any appreciation for it.

The cremation scene. That was a little disturbing to think about.

That America West used that movie to torture me and the rest of the passengers on a flight from Phoenix to Orlando.

That my junior high teacher made us sit through that on a slow day before christmas break. I beleive that constitutes child cruelty.

I looked around the classroom and saw kids doing homework. HOMEWORK!!! in order to avoid watching that peice of shiat. And the movie JUST WOULDN'T FU*KING END!!! At least five times I thought "Oh, this is the end of the movie." but, much like my love life, the climax never happened. The movie just kinda randomly petered out, I think. Or maybe I fell asleep.

Hell, I might STILL be there watching it.

He knows when you are sleeping.
He knows when you're on the can.
He'll hunt you down and blast your ass from here to Pakistan.
Ohh.
You better not breathe, you better not move.
You better off dead, I'm telling you dude,
Santa Claus is gunning you down.

Came here for "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians."

www.badmovies.org

Leaving happy.

The true horror of the film is the theme song.

S-A-N-T-A, C-L-A-U-S
Hooray for Santy Claus!

You spell it S-A-N-T-A, C-L-A-U-S
Hooray for Santy Claus

Hooray for Santy Claus
Yay yay for Santy Claus
He's fat and round, but jumpin' jiminy
He can climb down any chiminy!
When we hear sleigh bells ring
Our hearts go ting-a-ling
'Cause there'll be presents under the tree
Hooray for Santy Claus!

Now all year long at the North Pole
He's busy making toys
But he knows just what you're doin'
So you better be good girls and boys!

Hang up that mistletoe
Soon you'll hear Ho Ho Ho
On Christmas Day, you'll wake up and you'll say
Hooray for Santy Claus!

Yay yay! Yay yay!
Yay yay! HOORAY!!!

Hang up that mistletoe
Soon you'll hear Ho Ho Ho
On Christmas Day, you'll wake up and you'll say
Hooray for Santy Claus!

S-A-N-T-A, C-L-A-U-S
Hooray for Santy Claus!

You spell it S-A-N-T-A, C-L-A-U-S
Hooray for Santy Claus!

Hoo-raaaaayy forrr Sannn-tyyyy Clauuuusss!

Gremlins?

That's a standard christmas movie in my family* HOWEVER, that said, it is a horror film, along the lines of Critters, or worse.

//* Mind you, we're fairly warped...

Ha. I saw it on cable about a week ago, noticed him doing that, and thought of trying it myself. Haven't got around to it though.

I would expand the list with some that were scary in the sense that they were horrible enough to make your skin crawl. To wit: Deck The Halls, Surviving Christmas, Christmas With The Kranks. Probably many more that warrant their own submission: just plain terrible Christmas movies.

2009-12-06 08:35:44 PM
The English Major: Sinbad.

Good point.

2009-12-06 08:45:53 PM
I second the recommendation of Christmas Evil. It's the only Christmas film all watch anymore. As for scary ones, how 'bout The Grinch with Jim Carrey? I couldn't make it through more than 5 minutes of that POS.

2009-12-06 08:51:19 PM
Not sure if it counts, but I remember being a bit creeped out by the Jim Henson TV movie "The Christmas Toy" when I was a kid.

2009-12-06 08:51:55 PM
yuletide flicks are all pink bunny-suits and Muppets and angels getting their wings,

THAT'S NOT FARKING SCARY ENOUGH????!?!!??!?

Not a movie but freaked the hell out of me as a kid.

IIRC the older "Jack Frost" movie has a scene where a woman gets raped by a snowman in the shower. With his carrot as a substitute you-know-what.

Sadly, as you can tell, booze does nothing to dull the memory. Goggles didn't help either.

I wonder how many people rented Jack Frost for their kids and ended up getting the horror version.

2009-12-06 09:36:21 PM
I had nightmares about Gremlins until I was 12. Possibly because my Aunt took me to the theater to see it when I was 5.

It was on tv a few months back, I watched about 5 min before I had to change the channel.

If they ever do a movie version of the Ultimate Warrior's infamous Christmas comic, they will need to revise this list, pronto!

Oh good gracious, THIS!!!!
I dress as a stormtrooper for charity events.
I basically eat and breathe Star Wars and this farking show is SO painful to watch.
I couldn't even finish the Rifftrax version.
"Hey, you troops! Tear this place apart looking for Chewbacca. I'm going to sit here and watch Air Supply for about 4 minutes. I might even join the kid wookie and masturbate to Lola Falana later."

What about Christmas-ish or snowy/wintry horror movies, or that have horror elements? Good movies, not schlocky crap.

The Thing
Dreamcatcher
Dog Soldiers
Ravenous
The Shining
Edward Scissorhands
Something Wicked This Way Comes

I haven't seen "The Last Winter" but I suppose it oughta go on this list.

Ah, yes, the Mexican-produced "Santa Claus." It's on the MST3K Volume XVII boxed set. This Christmas, it's that and Santa Claus Conquers the Martians for some great yuletide cheer.
