Yeah, TFA was tl;dr, WTF makes subby think this won't be another POS?

So if Scott Bakula is on this show, I guess that means he's leaving Chuck.

Thanks for the spoiler alert subby!

It may be made up for the fact that it has Bakula. He makes everything awesome. Well, except for Star Trek. But nothing can make that awesome.

I think you missed the part where I said NOTHING CAN MAKE STAR TREK AWESOME. Patrick Stewart and The Shat got close, but that's it.

But I would be willing to look at any pictures of SciFi hotties in form fitting outfits in an attempt to prove me wrong. You know, just to keep an open mind.

So, what I get from the commercials is that Scott Bakula has leaped into Romano's body, right?

2009-12-06 05:36:54 PM
Peter Boyle was absolutely hilarious on Everybody Love Raymond.

Boyle is among the top ten greatest character actors of all time.

Up there with Harry Dean Stanton,J.T. Walsh and M. Emmet Walsh he was one of the best.

2009-12-06 05:41:18 PM
Based on subby's headline I figured the show had some hot chick in it or something. Seriously, Ray Romano and Scott Bakula?
I suppose you're looking forward to the next "Cheaper By the Dozen" shiatfest, or whatever new movie inexplicably casts Robin Williams, notastemitter?

I actually liked Everyone Loves Raymond (in small doses)...the only thing that really bothered me was his wife...she was quite possibly the most annoying character mom ever.

I dunno, I'm kinda looking forward to this show.

Maybe it's because at 35, I'm closer to "middle age" than "young".

Agreed with a couple of the posters above.

Peter Boyle was a joy to watch.

The wife is tied for 'Most Annoying Portrayal of a Mom' with Peggy Bigfoot Hill.

/wasn't crazy about Wilma either.

Can we really blame her? She was married to Ray Romano!

/watching that show was like being slowly skinned and salted

"Hey, the guy from Everybody Loves Raymond is doing Thirtysomething! And it's going to be nothing but finding the humor in older people trying to tell kids about sex and it's going to turn out that the kids know more about sex than these guys know, and it's going to be funny! WHY AREN'T YOU LAUGHING ALREADY?! HELLO?!?"

Wake me when this show is shiatcanned in five episodes.

Hey, that's not true, they show the LOTR movies sometimes. Oh, wait, they're showing "War of the Worlds" tonight. You win.

2009-12-06 06:13:05 PM
Can't wait for this to premiere, so the long form commercial will stop being played at the local googolplex prior to showtime. "It's not a sitcom, it's real and emotional and funny" - yeah, it's a sitcom, dude.

Shun the unbeliiiiiiieeeeeever.

ELR was the finest show on tv.

I think this disdain of you unfortunate twentysomethings is because we are from different definitions of a family.

I have no step-siblings, no half-siblings, no daddy's new girlfriend or mommy's third husband. I know and see all my cousins, and no one moves out of state, never to be seen again. In fact, going all the way back to 1911, when the records start, there's only been one divorce on either side of the tree.

Yes, there still are families like that :D

2009-12-06 06:24:56 PM
I'm not 20 something. I am from, and currently have, a stable family. ELR was a shiatfest. Boyle was the only shining light in that show.

I don't think he was ever intended to be a regular cast member in the show in the first place, so I'm not too concerned. If they want Bakula back, I'm sure they'll find a way to make it work for an episode or two.

Unless there's a new breed of male out there that suffers from menopause, I can't imagine anyone wanting to watch this self-pitying misery fest.

I don't get the hate of Enterprise. I'm a big fan of ST and I thought Enterprise was a damn good show. What gives?

Bingo. You win a kewpie.

The only thing that could make this even more likely for cancellation is the introduction of Kelsey Grammar.

To me, one of the funniest lines on that show, delivered perfectly by Patricia Heaton:

"What I want, Ray, if for you to want to be here.... Without actually...being here."

I agree. I wonder if some of the hate is based on Heaton's politics, since there is no hate like liberal hate.

For what?

I would rather watch the Manchild than a crappy knockoff with Romano.

I was sort of interested when I saw ads starting with Braugher and Bakula, but as soon as Romano appeared, I lost interest. Romano was not, is not, and will never be funny. Though his voice is annoying as hell. He has that going for him.

Let's see:

Full House - shiat
Family Matters - Friday night shiat.
Home Improvement - Kinda shiat, but had Pamela Anderson before she set her makeup to uberwhore.
Seinfeld - Awesome.
Roseanne - Somewhere between shiat and good. Pacing was extraordinarily poor, probably she was holding up the show eating behind the set.
Friends - fark you. That show was retarded.

So out of that, I'd watch Seinfeld.

Could MOACA become Desperate Housewives for men?

You people are racists; not ONE mention about the excellent Andre Baugher being in this show. If I had cable I would watch it because of him and Bakula.

And yeah, Patricia Heaton is smokin' HAWT!

Seinfeld is the only show that can actually make me cringe. Just being in a room with that crap makes me turn around and walk out. I have to this day, never figured out how the hell people can stand that shiat. It's annoying and not even remotely funny at all. Friends was okay until it got overly dramatic. Full house I liked. Home improvement I also enjoyed. Everything else on that list is a hit and miss.

Everybody loves Raymond was a good show, mostly because of Michael Garrett and Peter Boyle.

For some reason I always found Patricia Heaton kind of hot in a dirty whore kind of way. She probably engages in dirty kinky sex, you can kind of tell with the massive boob job she got...or maybe i'm just projecting my fantasies a little bit

2009-12-07 12:26:35 AM
If 'Everyone Loves Raymond' was real, it'd end with Ray's cop brother shooting him after Ray knifed his wife and parents to death for being evil harridans.

Dad went quick, because he had to live with Mom and that earned some sympathy.

I thought he got universal love because of Quantum Leap.
