I don't care how many times I see him on Jeeves and Wooster or Blackadder, or anywhere else for that matter. Thanks to House, I cannot help but think it's weird to hear him talk with a British accent.

Having seen the video before (my dad is a weirdo and made me watch it as a kid), it's not really Hugh Laurie as I've never seen him before. Still, I only remembered Cleese from that video, so it was still a novel surprise. Anybody else notice that the chick was Edina from Absolutely Fabulous?

Came here to say that.

Just because Jennifer Saunders hasn't done a big American TV show means she don't get no love?

I'd not seen this before. Was the training video in episode 4 of the BBC Office ("Who Cares Wins") based on this? It had a similar look (and was celebrity "hosted" as well.)

No, it was from John Cleese's training series. He started doing these training vids back in the 70s.

Sorry, I may be been a little confusing there -- I was asking if The Office training video from episode 4 (which is what I linked to) was inspired by these John Cleese training videos. I had not seen this Hugh Laurie clip before, but I do understand where it is from. I just couldn't tell if the similarity was intentional on the part of Gervais/Merchant, or just a coincidence.

Can't wait for the customer service training video featuring these guys.

Pretty good acting for a corporate video.

Do all corporate training actors in UK go through Royal Shakespeare Company?

I see now, I clicked the link and when I didn't see Cleese's company I dashed off my reply. I wanted an excuse to show people that Cleese has his own training company. I saw some of these videos back when I was in college in the 90s. I got a kick out of them.

\I can now firmly answer your question, I don't know.

Jennifer Saunders loses Stephen Fry's pants

I liked that one. I am on a big Fry kick. I have been watching old shows and new works from him.

It reminds me of this QI clip which I submitted but didn't go green. It is how we know Fry is truly gay. (And TIAWWT)

Oh my god! I've seen one of these in training at a power plant! It was amazing. Seriously. It was the only training video I'd ever seen that didn't put me to sleep. It was genuinely entertaining.

I like to think that I know a few British terms, but I couldn't follow what the hell they were talking about. Can someone give me run-down?

I totally was shown this video at my previous job, and it was just when House had gotten through it's first season. I honestly didn't know at the time Laurie was British, so it took a bit before I realized it was the same guy.

Still, you have to give the guy credit for having a helluvan American accent.

"Hire-Purchase" = rent-to-own

She's trying to buy a washing machine or something and can't pay cash.

Everything else is neutral English that shouldn't give an American any trouble.

No, no, no, subby. House is Hugh Laurie as I've never seen him. I've been a fan of both Fry and Laurie - together and apart - for over 20 years. I was so astoundeed when people at work described this very serious American doctor on TV played by Hugh Laurie that I seriously considered for a moment that there must be two actors named Hugh Laurie, one for each side of the Atlantic. But it's just my regular Hugh, acting.

/Hugh Laurie is featured prominently in the Galaxy of Hughs posted over my desk, along with Hugh Beaumont, Hugh Lofting, Hugh Wilson, Hugh Jackman, Hugh O'Brien, Hugh Carey, Hugh Downs, Hugh Hefner, Hugh Grant and Hugh Marlowe.
