How can both Sicko and Bowling for Columbine be on there?? I've been told numerous times that Moore is a hypocrite that hates capitalism while he makes millions off his movies.

2009-12-05 01:04:47 PM
What Moore does are political opinion movies, not even close to what I'd call a documentary. Some of that other stuff on the other hand could be interesting.

2009-12-05 01:19:26 PM
Yeah, I don't forsee myself using a site that thinks I really need to see Loose Change because of the ebil media. Because they totally cover it up when Moore makes his movies, it's so sad. I totally don't see his fat ass in every paper or anything.

Thank you, subby. There are some really interesting looking movies on that site.

Adam Curtis videos are definitely eye-opening.

Watch The Power of Nightmares, it's very good.

Calling some of these films "documentaries" is a bit of a stretch. That being said, watch "Hacking Democracy".

Hulu's got a pretty decent selection, too.

There's a Donkey Kong kill screen coming up if anyone's interested.

I'd bookmark it.

There has been a mistake. Zeitgeist and Loose Change are not documentaries.

2009-12-05 05:14:59 PM
Loose Screws Change is there, why?

All the highlighted ones look like political opinion (from right and left). I'd watch some of them if I thought they were neutral, but I don't.

Error on query database.

2009-12-05 05:19:00 PM
I can't get them to play, but I don't get an error message either.

Anyone in Canada getting these to work?

Loose Change - Final Cut is on there. Are the other three versions too full of bullshiat to list?

2009-12-05 05:20:35 PM
I can highly recommend The Fog of War, an interview with Robert McNamara.

FloydA: Thank you, subby. There are some really interesting looking movies on that site.

Frankly I'd be worried that anything political is incredibly inaccurate. Ah, and I see "Loose Change" is the second film listed. Super-Size Me isn't exactly a fountain of facts, either.

Ah, and I see they are ALL political documentaries. Thank you, subby, for spreading more ignorance, nonsense and disinformation to the huddled masses here at FARK.

Documentaries? No.

OpEd pieces presented as films rather than print? Yes.

Not on the list, but a great documentary- Cocaine Cowboys.

2009-12-05 05:25:50 PM
From the look of it, this website is at least 25 percent 9/11 truth "documentaries".

2009-12-05 05:28:16 PM
I don't see how Michael Moore's stuff can be considered as documentaries. It's like saying An Inconvenient Truth is a documentary.

There's no such thing as true neutrality.

coffee fiend: Not on the list, but a great documentary- Cocaine Cowboys.

Fark and yes. Also, Cocaine Cowboys II.

The guys that made both of those films are doing one of ESPN's 30 for 30 on the University of Miami football team's heyday. Comes out soon, and should be awesome.

Also, even if a lot of these are opinion pieces, why does that make them evil? Is watching something you don't completely agree with such a horrible fate? Maybe if you actually challenged some of your beliefs once in a while, you'd surprise yourself.

I bought a huge roll of foil a few months ago and haven't had a use for it until now. I could make one hell of a hat then watch these videos.

Home a film by Yann Arthus-Bertrand 1 hour 33 minutes long (new window) (youtube)

In 200,000 years on Earth, humanity has upset the balance of the planet, established by nearly four billion years of evolution. The price to pay is high, but it's too late to be a pessimist: humanity has barely ten years to reverse the trend, become aware of the full extent of its spoliation of the Earth's riches and change its patterns of consumption.

Gorgeous film.

He seems to have way more to say when he's promoting his "documentaries" than with the "documentaries."

I liked "Supersize Me." If it weren't for this important documentary, the world may not have known that eating Mcdonald's 3 times a day for 30 days will make you gain weight.

You'd be surprised how often the blatantly obvious can be pointed out, and still some folks won't get it.

Sometimes you have to show people pictures.

So they have lots of Moore films, but only one Alex Jones film? And most of those films are just Bush/Iraq/911 films. This website seems somewhat useless.

The Origins of AIDS is worth checking out. Not politics-based & pretty chilling.

The film explores the disturbing theory that the AIDS virus may have been introduced into the human population via some dubious laboratory practices involved in one of the earlier Polio vaccines.

"Hacking Democracy" will scare the crap out of you.

"Enron" is actually extremely good, and explains quite well how they were able to fark everyone over.

"White Light/Black Rain" is superb. (About the Heroshima/Nagasaki bombings, and interviewing survivors today)

"Loose Change" just makes me want to hunt down those little pukes and punch them. HARD.

2009-12-05 06:24:50 PM
just out of curiousity, why the seeming hatred for Loose Change? is it just too radical of an idea? was it not presented well? it seems people either loved it or hated it, and i have yet to see it. is it worth watching?
same with Zeitgeist. i want to see it, it seems an interesting idea anyway. but i always hear such bad things about it. whats up with these 2 films?

NONE of these is a documentary.
Every one of them is left-wing propaganda.
The closest to documentary is the "Why We Fight" series, which was only produced AFTER Hitler invaded the U.S.S.R.

Lundah: Calling some of these films "documentaries" is a bit of a stretch. That being said, watch "Hacking Democracy".

There is no such thing as an objective documentary. All documentaries have some form of opinion, all have some of the filmmakers' views in them. These are documentaries.

Nice site, btw.
