I'd be more curious to know how many American citizens by birth could pass the American history test that naturalized citizens have to take.

It happens every day. There are people from every country becoming citizens. It's their life's dream. There are people on their death beds being sworn in. Immigration officials will go to private homes and perform oaths. And there are those who commit their lives to serving this country even before they become citizens. There are oath ceremonies in Iraq quite frequently.

Why do they want to be citizens? Because they love this country and the opportunities it stands for. Sure we have our problems, but our country is still so far above all of the others out there. Many people walk out after the ceremony and immediately register to vote.

Many of the Canadians who move the the US and become citizens are highly trained professionals who know they can make a lot more money in the USA than in Canada. They have to choose between living somewhere with palm trees while overcharging rich people for services or staying somewhere with 5 months of winter and crabby pennypinchers hopped up on Tim Horton's coffee as clients. So really, you're getting our uber-capitalists.
