My old club, The Iron Horse was host to The Bacon Brothers more than a few times. Michael is actually a local in the Western Mass area, so it's natural for them to play out there.

Kevin and Michael and the family are great to have over--they love being on stage, they love performing, and are always kind, respectful of the joint, and a load of fun.

That doesn't take away from the pain that is FOROSOCO--the Bacon Brother's Folk-Rock-Soul and Country stylings. FOROSOCO is their name for their style, and while I love the guys, not so much a fan of the actual music.

They play out, they have a good time, and their fans are pleasant folks, but the music itself, not so great.

But did they cut loose?

Please, Bacon Bros. pick another cause. The Mummers suck and the parade is a long, drawn-out exercise is utter boredom.

More ramblings:

I interviewed these guys a couple of years ago when they played at Stubb's in Austin. Incredibly nice men.

"When I'm not working at my other job, I get to play in a band with my big brother. How cool is THAT?" -- Kevin Bacon

"Uh huh, that's cool and all, but no one's pretending we don't draw a crowd because there's a GIANT MOVIE STAR in the band." -- Michael Bacon

It would be awesome if his brother's name was "Canadian" rather than Michael.

So I posted in the same thread as hubiestubert, who went to a club Kevin Bacon played at.

Does that make me 2 degrees or 3?

After working for Foxwoods Resort Casino's creative arts department (where they produced a closed circuit TV show for the patrons of the casino to enjoy) - and was able/privileged to meet Kevin and Michael before one of their brief concerts on the main stage (before Foxwoods and MGM came together)- I can say that Kevin was a snooty POS. He didn't want to talk at all about ANYTHING and just sat on the interview couch like a biatch. His bro was pretty cool tho, and was willing to talk about the Bacon Brothers band. Nobody wants to hear what his brother has to say though, since he isn't the famous one (or as famous) like his brother.

It made me question my love for Tremors altogether.

/ya ya ya enter Cool story bro pic here... w/e
//i suppose im one degree? idk how it all works really

Any tradition involving dockworkers getting stinking drunk and parading through center city dressed as carnival queens in feathers and sequins must be preserved.

'Cos really, what else does Philly have going for it any more?

Someone should take a golf club to your groin repeatedly.

I gotta go with strangeguitar on this one. I sat through the parade once........boring...Also the neighborhood fills up with geeks who stay in the costume way into the night. Just annoying.

Actually, I had dinner with the fellas. I was the chef at the club, and Michael and Kevin wanted to pay me back for the meals that I cooked for them. They are amazingly kind and decent men.

It still doesn't make me want to buy The Bacon Brothers CDs, but you can like people and hate their music.
