Now that was a neat one. No, chilled urine does not pass the filter either.

I love how the headline points out that he was "overweight" and the article makes sure to mention that he was "chubby".

Are we to believe that if he had been physically fit this would be a non-story? Was his offense somehow more egregious because he was fat?

I'm just trying to figure out why that particular fact is meant to be such an important and compelling part of the overall story.

I think that says it all right here:

Yes, fat people know it's a crime to expose any fat in public. Harsh but fair.

Anyway, seriously though, sounds like the kids thought it was funny, teacher thought it was funny, no kids were molested so they should let it ride, instead everyone's too scared of paedophiles and litigation.

FTA: A chubby supply teacher who stripped to his waist in front of a class of whooping teenagers has been found guilty of serious misconduct.

He was fired because he took his shirt off? I can understand something like a reprimand, but isn't firing him too harsh?

2009-12-05 04:05:46 AM
Sometimes I think about things like this... wild scenarios. I'll be sitting somewhere and think, "What if I were to suddenly do ______, how would people react?" Could be something crazy, could be something mild... just anything out of the ordinary. This guy probably had that same thought. And then he said fark it and did it.

There are very few jobs where taking off your shirt and dancing are workplace appropriate.

Tits or GTF- WAIT DO NOT WANT!

Honestly the fact he was overweight can only help his case - he obviously wasn't trying to be seductive (he would have to turn off the lights for that) so really he just took off his farking shirt for a moment. In a completely benign context no less.

You know who else takes of their shirt?

Fornicators! FORNICATORS! For SEEEEEXXX!

Pretty sad that this made the news, or that there's a chance of him getting in trouble. Everyone had a teacher that did something like this to ingratiate himself with the class. Nothing wrong with it. Everyone got a laugh. The kind of thing that people talk about in the halls for a day or two, then it's forgotten.

If a female teacher had taken off her blouse and comically flapped her breasts around, would you have the same opinion?

I rather hope you're trolling. Not at all the same thing.

Think of bathing suits, for example. Acceptable for men to go topless, but not women. If your implication was two and the two were comparable, men would have to wear a shirt in the pool.

I can see this obviously being a problem, but while reading this, I do feel like I'm trying to be sold a story about a child molester.

I think it was probably a bad decision, but this was obviously a deprecated laugh planned by the guy; he's damn near 60, overweight and he only took off his shirt. Men can walk in public shirtless.

I don't think he should have been fired, reprimanded, of course--Or even sternly talked to even, but fired? Ehhh, that's harsh, dude.

2009-12-05 05:01:18 AM
Well clearly the most important thing to learn from this story is the fact that Martin Rouse, 57 is "chubby". Also, knowing that its a class of "whooping" teenagers really adds to the mystery.

I taught class in a toga once. No one was hurt. It was college kids, but it still wouldn't have scarred any fourteen year olds either.

Heck, the dumb shiat deserves to be fired just for listening to the little bastards. If he hasn't got any more sense than that, he shouldn't be in charge of young and dumb cretins anyway.....

Err... Yeah... There's this thing called "society" and they set the rules. Not you personally but everyone as a collective. Sucks if you don't like it but you don't really have much of a choice. Yes there are crazy bastards who will insist that women have the same rights as men when it comes to baring their chest. I suggest you punch one. If they then advocate that you only get the standard assault charge then they can opine on the subject. When I see a woman's liberation organization moving into the courts to insist that men and women get equal treatment I'll buy into the equality part of that.

Fired? For that? Sounds like the administrators as well as the teacher there have more growing up to do than the students. In a sane world, absent a track record of antics not mentioned in the story, this sort of thing merits "a talking to" at most.

It was a good party. It involved vodka and someone going to the hospital and blaming it on me. He wasn't exactly clear but rather than have 'em stomp through my house I said I'd take the ticket as long as I was assured that I wasn't going to be admitting guilt by doing so.

*sighs* It gets worse?

I'm expecting to be arrested at that time. It turns out I wasn't going to be. It would also appear that I'm out there climbing in the cruiser (being a big helper or some shiat) and asking him if I can drive, play with the lights, and if I should be handcuffed. I don't do well on vodka. I usually avoid it like the plague. I'm assuming it is a mental thing as I do just fine on other, more potent, alcohols.

It's a 45 minute drive to the nearest police station (if you speed like a demon) so he's trying to get rid of me. The drunk who filed the complaint couldn't tell him who it was but he remembered my name and my address (he'd never been here before and sure as hell isn't coming back if I can ever remember his name). No bail conditions. No arrest or anything. Oh well.

Oh it gets worse...

The above 45 minute mention? That's not me making shiat up. I'm in Franklin County, Maine. You can look it up if you want.

I called and said sorry to the cop and explained that I didn't hold it against him nor did I feel that my effort to apologize was going to impact any court proceedings in the future but that I simply wanted him to know that I was truly sorry for my antics. It seems that he also had to carry me (or assist really) me back to the house which is an effort in and of itself. He gave my cigar pack back to me when I told him he should probably confiscate the joint in it and smoke it (or something similar - verbatim is NOT an option) as it would make his night go better. I told him he couldn't come in the house while he was on duty but I'd sit on the porch and drink with him until his shift was over if he wanted - the missus and Frank tell me I repeated that often and was quite disappointed when he turned me down.

Yeah. It was a good one. I still feel sort of bad about it. As for my "victim" he had no marks on his body nor did I have any on mine. I don't recall (nor does anyone else) beating him up or even threatening anyone that night. I'm a pretty happy drunk actually but vodka contains the spirits of the damned for me so it would not surprise me too much.

The thing is that I'm only *maybe* 175 pounds and the dude I "beat up" (so the cop told me was what was reported) is a good 75 pounds on me. I'm pretty sure a ten year old girl can beat the shiat out of me on a vodka night and do so without getting a scratch on her. If it isn't dropped I'm going to get a lawyer and some more vodka.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go buy some more eye bleach.

A part of me sees nothing too major wrong with this. It wasn't *that* offensive really. It isn't acceptable but in today's society that is way above some of the things I've read about.

Hmm... Maybe something about Boobiesoo now that I see the comments.

Bah... It is Maine, vodka is a requirement at this point. We don't make sense to the rest of the world but we strangely have a very low crime rate all things considered. (Would actually be doing the "Mainer" which is pretty interesting. If I get caught they yell at me and maybe arrest me. If I don't get caught I go over - give THEM the vodka and hopefully don't drink any. Then I listen to them yell at me or perhaps say sorry which is likely in this case and then the case doesn't actually see a court room.)
