Prosecutor Manuela Comodi said violent crimes can lack a motive. "We live at a time where violence is purposeless," she told the jury.

Well I have a problem with that statement.

Copied/Paraphrased from other thread:

If some people took the time to look at the facts they'll see that the prosecution is a farce and what we have here is a young women who's only transgression was that she was in a drug induced haze while her roommate was being murdered (how shiatty is that?). This whole case stinks of character assassination by the media, horrible evidence gathering techniques by the investigators (nearly 2 days straight being interrogated without a lawyer being present- what the fark??) and a corrupt and insane prosecutor.

This woman and her boyfriend's life are ruined because the court system in Italy is farking retarded.

Oh, and did we mention they already sentenced some other guy for the murder, a man who was last seen with the victim, had sex with the victim, who fled to Germany after the murder, and whose story suddenly changed to include the other two college students? Two students with no motive (how in the fark did they make up that story?).

This whole thing is horrible. It there someone in Italy with power and a brain?

I know nothing about this case but a foreign country trying an American citizen for a crime outrages me! They warned me this would happen if we elected a Democrat!

As a WA resident I get a lot more coverage of this than most.

I was hoping she was innocent. Not that she would get away with a crime, or that they would free a guilty person. Just wishing nobody from Seattle was like that.

Still hope she is freed upon appeal.

For something more than a technicality.

Prosecutors alleged that Sollecito held Kercher down while Rudy Guede, a 22-year-old Ivory Coast-born drifter, tried to sexually assault her and Knox stabbed her for almost an hour with a 12 inch strap-on. She moaned from intense pleasure...

This is how the story could have gone Amanda. But no, you had to be stupid and kill her instead. I'm still going to fap to this. I hope you have learned your lesson.

MIguy: I know, it should take a lot more than DNA evidence to convict somebody.

If there are other reasonable explanations for the DNA evidence, then yes, it should.

DNA evidence? You mean the supposed DNA evidence that was of such small quantity that it couldn't be matched with certainty to the victim, coming from a knife that couldn't have been used to inflict the injuries on the victim?

Nice job farkstick.

I'm curious, if there was a fair amount of reasonable doubt for this girl's innonence why wouldn't the State Department jump on this? Given Italy's had her in a cell for two years she doesn't appear to be something the State Department wants to escalate, which in turn suggests the State Department's lawyers have looked over the evidence and finds everything Italy did to be kosher.

Maybe she can get assigned to that prison in Italy where they teach the inmates to cook and serve gourmet food. Link (new window)

Actually, there's a lot of information available about what sorts of evidence were presented in court. And hasn't this been "playing out" for about two years now?

Commute her sentence to deportation and end this crap Italy.

2009-12-04 07:17:15 PM
I was hoping she was innocent, but the sources I've read about this have been heavily slanted in her favour, so that probably tainted my opinion. I don't have an unbiased enough opinion to say whether this ruling is bullshiat or not. But I am disappointed no matter what.

fark Italy up the ass. I went once in 2003, will not be coming back, at least not while this story is fresh in my mind, or until she wins an appeal.farking greasy, swarthy coonts. Rome and Venice were nice, but Naples is a shiathole. fark the lot of them.

The main problem we Americans seem to have is we assume Italy's judicial system is the same as ours.

Edsel: What a freaking joke. And I thought the American justice system was shiatty.

Yep, she'll be 1 of 65,000 in prison in a country of 60 million.

In the US, there were 7.3 million in prison in 2007 in a country of 300 million.

1/100th of the prisoners in a country 1/5 the size. Must be the shiatty system.
