Well I know now where I can murder a woman and the cops will not respond.

I bet they were filming at night and people couldn't get sleep, good for the residence. I hate horror films, anything that stops their crappy adds on TV is good.

I'd rather someone call 911 unnecessarily than someone not calling at all assuming 'it will be okay' or 'someone else will call' and then it being too late.

/once called 911 on a guy screaming and beating a woman in the street
//the police came and she refused to press charges
///would do it again

And so will he. The only correct response in that situation is a sniper rifle.

I was an extra and stood behind Russell Crowe for a couple hours the other day, so I'm getting a kick out of this.

We have a family friend who met his wife after he beat her ex-husbands ass when he saw him roughing her up a little in an alley. Listen, when you see someone being assaulted, you have to ask yourself, what would Batman do?

True, but this 'batman' is a 5'6" chick who does not know karate, so I don't think I would have fared to well.

Sometimes you just gotta "Rex Grossman" it and post without preview.

Or Jay Cutler it, but hes worlds better than Grossman.

Sort of long, but cool story, bro.

My wife and I were living in North Hollywood and a guy that was getting evicted from our apartment building decided that everyone was going to be evicted with him. He set a series of propane canisters in the hallways, poured propane all over the place, went back into his apartment and lit it. His apartment exploded out the side of the building, but thankfully, the fire doors kept the fire from spreading. Everyone except him made it out safely. We spent all day outside the apartment complex with helicopters flying overhead, SWAT team and bomb squad trucks outside, people running around with FBI, ATF and LAPD jackets on, and all manner of other emergency vehicles lining the street. There's a lot more personally to this story about what a hell day that was, but I'll get to the gist of why I'm commenting here:

I must have had at least 10 people walk up to me that morning and say "Hey, what movie are they filming?"

dlewis6: Listen, when you see someone being assaulted, you have to ask yourself, what would Batman do?

Well, Batman doesn't kill people, so that takes all the fun out of it. I'd rather ask myself "What would Hannibal Lecter do?"

/remember to pick up some fava beans

hAZy: Isn't this one of the reasons why you have to get a permit to shoot?

If they didn't have a permit, the cops would have arrested the film crew for not having one, or at least issued tickets. Nothing in the articles says this occurred.

So that's why the people in Richmond, CA, didn't call 911. They thought those guys and that girl were just acting out a scene from Last House On The Left.

I had one of my first film gigs helping out on the set of a friend's indie film last April. The first scenes we shot with a full crew were some forest scenes, and I was doing the fog effects. At first it seemed like the stuff was dissipating between takes, but according to crew out by the road it looked like we'd set the forest on fire.
Somehow we got away with it.

So the response of 911 operators to calls in that area will now be "can you see what's happening? because there's a horror movie filming in that area."

And then the little old ladies who don't have the mobility to go to the window will force them to come out anyhow.

//Studio should really post signs in advance and such when using public or rented space.

In fairness, there isn't a single house with a direct line of sight to the CC's parking lot. Whoever called it in was probably acting just on the screaming and the general location it was coming from.

/It's not in Coloma, either. It's in Lotus.

2009-12-04 02:03:49 PM
If it was a Coloma resident that called then this wouldn't surprise me one bit. It seems the further east up the hill you get from Sacramento the more oxygen deprived peoples brains become.

It's not uncommon to have this happen on film shoots. We had this happen on my film during a chase scene. Except a redneck jumped out of his pickup and started chasing my actor (who was carrying a gun) all while screaming "Get that gun away from those kids!"

I guess the guy missed the two huge electronic signs that we had placed on the road that read "FILM SHOOT IN PROGRESS". And I'm not quite sure how he missed the production vehicles, large lights, and boom mic either...

Also, what kind of crazy does it take to chase after someone who's carrying a gun!?!?

In case anyone cares here's a link (trailer on page): War Stories (new window)

I couldn't find the actress or the director on the imdb...are they completely 100% unknown, or did the article spell BOTH their names wrong?

Wait...do I care? I just realized I don't...
