I'll be the first to say I haven't seen any of those shows because I don't own a television.

2009-12-03 11:37:52 PM
i've tried watching "everybody loves raymond", but i can't last more than 5 mins. That show sucked.

Apparently, there's no hope for this country.....................

2009-12-03 11:51:50 PM
I saw the ER episode and the Spin City episode. Both were definitely worthy. That ER episode was pheeeeenomenal.

submitter: #3 really?

Huge show, but no future potential --- who was going to believe that the next guy was a millionaire?

Dave Barry said it best:

There apparently exists, somewhere in Los Angeles, a computer that
generates concepts for television sitcoms. When TV executives need a
new concept, they turn on this computer; after sorting through millions
of possible plot premises, it spits out, "THREE QUIRKY BUT ATTRACTIVE
YOUNG PEOPLE LIVING IN AN APARTMENT," and the executives turn this
concept into a show. The next time they need an idea, the computer
spits out, "SIX QUIRKY BUT ATTRACTIVE YOUNG PEOPLE LIVING IN AN
APARTMENT." Then the next time, it spits out, "FOUR QUIRKY BUT
ATTRACTIVE YOUNG PEOPLE LIVING IN AN APARTMENT." And so on.

We need to locate this computer and destroy it with hammers.

It borderlines on funny to making me want to punch Ray through the TV. Some of the ways he handles situations are so ridiculous that I have to change the channel because it is almost embarrassing.

I agree with the gist of what you said, but... hey, it's the only way to be sure.

This. I liked the ER finale too, with the reference to the first line and the pan out to see the entire hospital.

How is the Seinfeld finale not on this list?

Has it really been that long? I was thrown off by the reunion on Curb, I guess. It seemed pretty recent.

nice. I wonder how long that has been like that and how long it will stay.

I have to hand it to subby - #3 is pretty f'ing surprising and gut wrenchingly awful to realize.

I'm amazed at the number of reality shows, of all types, on the list. I watch a couple because the wife and daughter like them, but otherwise, meh.
I'm waiting for a "Running Man" type reality show. (closer to the book, though) Surprised it hasn't happened.

I'd watch those two play real life Unreal Tournament.

What must it have been like to be a TV executive around 2000? Not only was reality TV blowing up, but game shows, of all things, made a comeback? Execs must have thought they were in Shangri-La, figuring that they might not ever have to deal with a writer again.

2009-12-04 07:34:58 AM
I saw those episodes of Frasier and Spin City. The rest of that list is some major garbage.

2009-12-04 07:39:43 AM
The ER episode was great television. Unfortunately, it meant that Kellie Martin would not be returning. Loved watching her for less-than-gentlemanly reasons.

Is it weird if you've never watched any of those shows? I hate Friends and Survivor and ER and all that crap! Especially Everybody Loves Raymond. WTF.

I watch a lot of Travel/Food/Nat Geo/Discovery. The ABC/CBS/NBC shows just don't do anything for me.

You basically have to have a vagina to enjoy it. It's a woman's dream. A huge apartment far bigger than the income of the people involved. Three pleasant, non-threatening men who despite being in their 20s and together a lot, never get drunk or go to strip clubs.

But for what it is, it's a very well made series.

Bacon Salt on popcorn is top notch.

I saw the ER episode and the Friends finale. The ER was actually great. I was surprised that there wasn't more reality tv on that list, and perhaps a CSI-especially the one where the guy got buried alive with the camera on him.

Yeha, I don't why they never made the episdoe where the guys went to a titty bar and Ross spent a thousand dollars, Chandler got kicked out for an amusing miscommunication and Joey took 3 strippers home with Ross's Visa card.

I saw that episode of Spin City. Loved it - I loved that whole show. Charlie Sheen actually did alright in that one, especially when he hooked up with Heather Locklear, only to do the same in 2.5 men later on

Well Strip clubs are really expensive in NYC, Chandler would have been the only one of the three who could afford going to one.

I was watching a re-run of Spin City with Mr. Sheen in it, and remember thinking, "Wow, his character here is almost exactly like his character on Two and a Half Men."

If it doesn't work... basically it replaced "contestants" with "gold diggers" and "women" with "broads," "sluts," "whores" and such. It is already reversed.

Damn, I remember Romano and Cordry working on Lucy in that ER episode and Romano just losing his shiat when she died. Horrible, perfectly done moment that the actors just knocked out of the park.

I was going to go into a tirade about how awful a show Friends is, that's it's probably the least funny thing that's ever been on tv, etc. Apparently there are some 50 million people that disagree with me.

eddyatwork: I'll be the first to say I haven't seen any of those shows because I don't own a television.

Well, 50% of Fark seems not to own one, so 1st out of half isn't really worth bragging about ;-)

Last One Left: DamnYankees: It aired in 1998?

It seemed pretty recent.

It's called "getting old".

Komplex: Well Strip clubs are really expensive in NYC, Chandler would have been the only one of the three who could afford going to one.

Chandler and the Australian Prime Minister. Apparently.

I had heard of Friends but not seen a show until I went backpacking (don't know why it wasn't on the radar here at the time, never bothered finding out). I was in Vancouver and "the buzz" went 'round - there was barely standing room in the hostel common room by the time it aired. I eventually caught up and liked it. It's like How I Met Your Mother for the previous generation.
