Generation D: I don't think you go FASTER; you just have to change speeds less often. Anyway, the wave theory isn't particularly relevant to the fast lane idiots (IT'S A PASSING LANE!!), as it just causes people to cut you off and shoot guns at you.

Finally these cops do something about this. I used to live in Illinois, and I swear Illinois is the worst state ever for that. Fox 7 was one of my local channels.

This is great and I hope they adopt this nationwide. I agree with those who are saying we don't have to move out of the way for people going > 80 Mph. Everybody and their mother should know by now that State Troopers consider this speeding as opposed to going like 5 Mph over the 65 Mph limit.

i love it when people say "i break the speed limit by 15mph and damnit, thats the fastest anyone ought to go" you are breaking the law too, and you probably appreciate it when grandma going 50 gets out of your way. return the favor and GET THE fark OUT OF THE LEFT LANE if you aren't passing someone.

Well, what's even more annoying is when some Hiway Patrolman pulls over some asshat for driving too slow, and everybody in front of me slows down to rubberneck, hoping against hope that the HiPo puts a hollowpoint through the offender's melon. (At least that's what I hope for...)

ok, im going to put an end to this nonsense right now that i see starting. I suspect that you would only get a ticket for going slow in the left lane if you are driving obscenely slow, like 10 under or something. of course, if you're speeding in the left lane, you may get a ticket for that.

It works like this: If you can get out of the left lane and there's enough of a gap in traffic where you still maintain your speed or close to it while the guy who was behind you passes at 90, you should do it.

Otherwise feel free to stay.

I may move to Illinois based solely on this new law. Assuming it passes, of course.

People shouldn't be too eager to be "dead right" on the road, lest they wind up more dead than right. At those speeds, it will be an interesting debate in the morgue.

If there's not slower traffic to your left, there is absolutely NO excuse for not getting over, no matter how fast you're going.

The driver behind you just might know how to perform a "pick". You don't want to be on the receiving end of one of those at 70 mph. I always assume anyone crazy enough to drive that fast with other cars around is probably armed, too, and I get the fark out of the way.

Learn to be polite on the road, or sooner or later you'll either piss off an armed psycho, or an undercover cop.

California already has that law, but it's rarely enforced.

in europe if your in the left lane you get flashed or honked at, UNLESS your passing you should not be in the left lane, when you pass people on the right there they get pissed, predictable driving. people learn it.

If you go slowly in the passing lane, you are hurting more than helping. I don't know if you feel a bit nervous when people pass you on the right, but down in texas, its legal even if you do it on the shoulder and it makes me nervous as hell. I am waiting to turn left off of a small highway and people are speeding at speeds up to 60 mph on my right. Ok, maybe you are saying "I dont care" but you could potentially cause an accident doing that. I have seen it happen myself, thankfully from a fairly safe distance. Leave it to the police to enforce speed limits, alright?
