I'd just like for the game to be over so I can collect on my "over" bets for both teams' wins for the season.

And lol @ thinking either team gives a damn about tOSU's "defense". Anyone can have a good defensive rating against the Big 10.

Dear Beavers,

I know we don't always get along, but I'm pulling for you tonight.

Sure we've our differences, and I've sat through 6 straight ass kickings delivered by your team, but I've always rooted for you guys during non-conference games.

You guys are scrappy, and Mike O'Reilly is a great coach. You can do this. For the love of christ beat those Oregon bastards.

Oregon hasn't one a Rose Bowl since 1917 and it drives them crazy. Their program is consists of gimmicky garbage that is funded by sweatshops and hippies. Their fans are insufferable and have poor hygiene. Please hurt them badly tonight.

Sincerely,

Dipsomaniac Dawg (Husky fan)

Justin.tv will have a bunch of streams for this game. The NCAA streams don't get pulled like the NFL ones do, so there should be some good quality streams available.

And lol @ thinking either team gives a damn about tOSU's "defense". Anyone can have a good defensive rating against the Big 10.

Yeah, I mean, just take a look at this, just horrible:

THE SILVER BULLET DEFENSE
Ohio State's defensive squads have held opponents to fewer than 21 points 48 times since 2006, the best among FBS teams. The Buckeyes are 45-3 in those games. Ohio State's defense has allowed fewer than 10 points 25 times since the start of the 2006 season.

Ohio State ranks among the NCAA Top 10 in five categories in 2009: rushing defense (4th), total defense (5th), scoring defense (6th), turnover margin (7th) and pass efficiency defense (8th). Ohio State ranks 16th among the NCAA leaders in pass defense.

The back-to-back shutouts of Toledo and Illinois were the first time since 1996 that the Buckeye defense recorded consecutive shutouts. In 1996, Ohio State whitewashed Minnesota (45-0 at home) and Illinois (48-0 at Illinois) in November of that season.

The last time Ohio State had three shutouts in a season was 1996, against Pitt (72-0), Minnesota (45-0) and Illinois (48-0). The 1973 and 1977 Ohio State squads each recorded four shutouts, a season record since WWII.

The Buckeye defense had a nine-quarter scoreless streak stopped at Indiana; the Buckeyes have allowed only 10 touchdowns over the past 39 quarters.

The 38-0 shutout of Toledo (which had averaged 42.5 points in its first two games)
was the first by the Buckeyes since a 43-0 shutout of Youngstown State in the 2008 season opener and the fourth shutout of the Tressel era. The Buckeyes held the Rockets to just 210 total yards, only 13 of those on the ground.

Against the USC Trojans, Ohio State's defense did not allow a first down until the 13:15 mark of the second quarter and held the Trojans to only 5 yards of total offense on their first three possessions. The previous week, USC totaled 620 yards of total offense against San Jose State.

THE RUN STOPPERS Ranked fourth nationally in rushing defense, the Buckeyes are giving up just 83.7 yards per game on the ground this season, allowing just 2.7 yards per rush. OSU's opponents have scored only six rushing touchdowns in 11 games.

During a three-game span, Ohio State allowed just 13, 82 and 18 yards rushing vs. Toledo, Illinois and Indiana, an average of only 37.6 yards/game.

It has been 21 games since the Buckeye defense allowed a 100-yard individual rushing performance; that was by USC's Joe McKnight, who gained 105 yards on 12 carries in the 2008 meeting. That streak is second-longest in the nation, trailing only Alabama (30 games).

Since the beginning of the 2005 season, the Buckeyes have allowed only seven 100-yard rushers during a span of 63 games. That mark is the best record by an FBS school during that time period.

Keep talking jackhole.

How did that vaunted tOSU defense do against Purdue or USC?

USC did not tally a first down until the second quarter and needed a fantastic drive by McKnight (the last individual rusher over 100 yards that the Bucks have allowed) and Barclay to put the game away.

The defense still held Purdue to 26 points. Oregon allowed 36 points from the Boilermakers. Our Offense was the issue in the Purdue game, not the defense.

And yeah, back to back shutouts of Toledo (scoring 40+ points on average the previous two games) and Illinois, the team that had embarrassed us last year. AFAIK, they are one of the only teams, if not the only, to pitch three shutouts this year.

Oregonian through and through. I'd love for the Beavers to pull it off. It would mean a lot to my Father as he graduated from there in 66.

If the Ducks do win, which I assume will happen, I will certainly support them in the Rose bowl.

I hope all the hype pays off, and the game is tough fought. A blow out on either side would be disappointing.

I hope for a great game! Go Beavs! Congrats Ducks if you win.

Oregon beat Purdue. By two. Not the blowout you are looking for.

USC and Purdue beat tOSU. By a combined 11 points.
There isn't a defense in the country that can stand up to the Ducks when their offense is clicking. Except for Boise State (Loss), Purdue (Win by two), Stanford (Loss), and Arizona (Win by 3)

Boise State: Entire team played terribly, Offensive line worst of all.
Purdue: Second game, team still not playing well. Still scored 38 points.
Stanford: No excuses, but we did still put up 42 points.
Arizona: Ducks put up 44 points.

Our defense isn't top notch, but the offense surely is.

And the Ducks beat USC by 27, not 17.

I'm not saying that tOSU has a bad defense, just saying that when the Ducks are rolling, they're damn near unstoppable.

2009-12-03 06:53:05 PM
You could have 12 shutouts and it wouldn't matter because YOU DON'T BEAT ANYBODY worthwhile. The Big 11 should turn in their BCS membership for the WAC/MWC.

You do beat the crap out of other Ohio teams though so you have that going for you.

What's your non-conference record against ranked teams in the past 5 years?

tOSU is soft and over-rated

Boise State: You Win, Horrible showing for a first game with a first year coach.

Purdue: 38pts
Stanford: 42pts
Arizona: 44pts.

That's still a lot of offense in losses/close games.

I'll stipulate on the defense modifier, but it's not like Oregon is keeping these as low scoring games.

I mean, if you can't keep Purdue from scoring a ton, and you can't keep Arizona from scoring a ton, and you can't keep Stanford from scoring a ton, then what makes any Oregon fan think that they'll keep Ohio State from scoring a ton, even with an offense that has taken a month and a half off and has, at best, a slightly above average total offense?

Stanford I'll give you, cause Gerhardt and Luck are clicking on all cylinders this year.

My prediction for either Rose Bowl scenario:

Oregon - 24, Ohio State 38
Oregon State - 17, Ohio State 30
