So they are going for guaranteed bad press to combat bad press?

Sounds perfectly logical to me.

God damn that is farked up. The day the Iranian dictatorship falls will be a great day for history. How can they justify throwing extended family in jail for what someone said here? farkin psychopaths run that nation.

For crissake, the internet stifles dissent. Why hasn't anyone figured this out yet? Our friend networks like Facebook jeopardize everyone we associate with. A stalker, a government agency, a bill collector, a human resources department, they have access to everything they need to control us by manipulating our relationships. This should not be news.

So they've invented this new thing called "corrupt and vengeful abuse of power" in Iran? Boy, that sure makes me glad I live here in the land of purity and righteousness.

/now go fark yourself

On the bright side, I think the current Iranian government's days are numbered. It was absolutely clear to anyone following the aftermath of the election that Ahmadinejad did not win with any sort of fairness. Because Iran realized that they cannot simply block out internet communications without blocking the whole internet, they are resorting to this. Unfortunately, they won't get anything other than more pissed off Iranians. The situation is a bit like the RIAA suing music downloaders, only more criminal and evil, because the people who suffer aren't remotely responsible here.

Because I don't think the US government should interfere (this would just strengthen the current regime), I propose that we (Fark, Anonymous, etc) join in a little sabotage. Hence my comment made earlier.

Ha you think that there is a comparison between the US's abuse of power and Iran's. Wow are you jaded.

Only if you call out specific Iranian citizens in this thread. It's similar to the "don't call out fellow Farkers in a thread" rule.

Then I retract my previous statement.

I'm closely related to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Iran's government sucks.

Joke is on them, I went back to Iran last year and they had no idea that I criticized them on Friendster and iVillage.

2009-12-03 12:47:22 PM
Yet again I prove that the smart move is to not have any friends and thus no need for a Facebook account.

TheJoe03: God damn that is farked up. The day the Iranian dictatorship falls will be a great day for history. How can they justify throwing extended family in jail for what someone said here? farkin psychopaths run that nation.

Because their grip on control of the nation is so weak they have to seriously consider things like this a real threat.

Lulz. I used to work with a Persian guy named Mohammed who hates the current regime, so I'm really getting a kick out of these responses.

Does it work the other way around? If you say Iran's justified, or at least no worse than Israel, do your relatives back home get the Comfy Chair?

/if so, Persepolis's relatives must be doing all right

Mehdi Karroubi, who has led protests to overturn the result of the June 12 vote, said that both women and young boys had been victims of assault.

But as we esablished earlier, there are no homosexuals in Iran.

Mr Karroubi said in the letter that his informants were in "sensitive positions".

Only when they try to sit down.

dmitriy167: Because I don't think the US government should interfere (this would just strengthen the current regime), I propose that we (Fark, Anonymous, etc) join in a little sabotage.

I agree. Someone with zero information about themselves on the internet should set up a proxy twitter named "Iranian Criticism Inc." or something, and have a random free e-mail address (yahoo springs to mind) where Iranians can anonymously e-mail, and the twitter will post whatever needs saying for them.

...well, it's just an idea.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess you've never been shot at, tear gassed, ran down by a line of cops on motorcycles or had your family threatened because you attended a public demonstration.
