Beheading is just an insult?

What about the threat to create a massacre? Is that just a christmas greeting.

So the Tet Offensive was really a big welcome party?

An expert witness is expected to testify that in Vietnamese culture, Le's beheading remark is considered an insult, not a hreat.

That's wasist!

Atleast they didn't threaten a Jedi consular. Although they're always thinking of things. If you want to get something done, you go to a watchman or knight.

Patriot Act:
Call his threat a "threat of terrorist action."
Throw him & wifey in a cell, torture them, never charge them with anything, never give them a trial.

Having direct involvement with the Consulate and DoHS while obtaining visa's on two seperate occasions, I can assure you that beheadings would not affect their job performance.

"Le's beheading remark is considered an insult, not a (t)hreat"

In what culture does taking one's head off NOT constitute a threat?
Do you have to actually start cutting the head off or sumthin?

If he wants to use the "But...b-but...my culture!" defense, he can go back to Vietnam.

I think the idea is that it's not supposed to be taken seriously. Just like in America if someone says " you" it's not actually an indication that they want sex with you.

That would explain a *lot* of the times I've gotten punched in the head.

Other cultures are farked-up. In arabic, when someone tells you "I'm going to bury you", or "I'm going to dance on your grave", or something like that... it means you're funny. WTF?!

Most of the rest of the world is full of savage people, barely a step above cavemen.

But yes, lets welcome more of these wonderful people into our advanced society. I'm sure only good will come of it!

Phuong Nguyen Le pleaded guilty in February to mailing a threatening communication, but a federal judge in Richmond later allowed him to withdraw the plea.

'Pleaded', not 'pled'?

Is this some fancy Lawyerin' talk?

you know, I am just about as left leaning-multicultural embracing as they come. That said- Sorry dude- I don't care if it really is not a threat in your homeland(which based on the OTHER threats doesn't really matter), if you sent that letter here- we get to prosecute you here.

Consular officers are State Dept employees, not DHS. Just sayin'.
