Bahahaha. At least my Bulls are maddeningly mediocre.

Can't believe the mavs made it past them. They're the kings of falling in trap games.

Frankly the Raptors should be even more ashamed tonight.

Bruce Ratner must be somehow prevented from moving the Nets to Brooklyn, just to break him after all the things he has done to break the New Jersey Nets.

Finally, a team Jersey deserves.

The NBA should really adopt a salary cap.

So who the hell is LeBron supposed to go now? The list of possible places was headlined by the Nets and Knicks, but both are so horrific I can't imagine him going there.

Please, BronBron...go to the Clips.

Both would still be top playoff seeds if you dropped LeBron onto the teams. Knicks especially. Drop LeBron in and get them a decent PG and they are a contender.

As a resident of Jersey, I have to say that this does not surprise me.

Not in the doggone least.

But then again, I'm a Suns fan, so I really have no room to talk either which way.

No way. Not even Lebron can single-handedly add 40 wins to your team.

If the Mavs had lost to the Nets, Mark Cuban would have on a web cast the torturing of every Mav player, coach and front office person.

Look at the shiatty teams LeBron has had around in the Cleveland!

2009-12-02 10:37:30 PM
Anyway it is a moot point since both the Knicks and Nets will lost most of the their team and buy new players in free agency.

It's a whole lot better than what they have in NY and NJ.

Well, the Nets are half injured. The Knicks were only a few games out of a playoff spot last season though, you honestly telling me that adding farking LeBron James wouldn't have won them 7 more games?

You vastly underestimate how important a superstar is in basketball.

They should play Drew's soccer team.

Also, not that this means jack but swapping Curry and Jeffries for Lebron on ESPN's trade machine adds 25 wins to the Knicks (and subtracts 26 from the Cavs)... and that doesn't even take into account that Curry is injured and not actually playing!

Which will be the first team to lose to the Nets? They have the Knicks on Sunday.

They have Bobcats, Knicks, Pacers and Warriors all coming up. Any of those could lose.... but they all could win too.

Did Bosh get hurt tonight?

A quick 15 minutes with only 2 points.

good thing the nets didn't sign that clubhouse cancer Allen Iverson! Now they can keep their dignity!

Knicks already beat the Nets, so probably not them.

LeBron could get either team (NY, NJN) into the playoffs. Hell, maybe added to that Knicks roster they could even win a playoff series. But no way in hell they could win it all and that is what will determine where LeBron goes.

bighasbeen: But no way in hell they could win it all and that is what will determine where LeBron goes.

I mean, this is true, but again both the Nets and Knicks will have totally new teams in 2010. If the Knicks can dump Curry somehow they could easily build a contender around LeBron in his first year.

Not that I'm saying he will bail or not, but Cleveland has a shiatty coach and a shiatty team sans LeBron.

If only that hadn't traded their draft pick this year...

2009-12-02 10:54:40 PM
Actually, I guess I'm wrong. The Nets have a fair amount of money comign off, but only from a few players. They won't really have a new team. The Knicks are losing a bunch of people though.

I think the Pacers and Bobcats would probably win. It's the other two that should be worried.

But the Knicks aren't that consistent are they?

The Ron Artest story on the ESPN site tonight is pretty funny and not much of a surprise... Is it me or has the NBA become for the most part simply hard to watch?.....

Boston didn't look like a team to go the distance until KG and Allen landed.

I wonder if one of the other big 2010 FA's will sign for less to join LeBron.

They're not, but the Nets still looked pathetic against them. I don't see how that changes in a rematch - they're both huge piles of shiat, but the Nets are a slightly bigger pile of shiat.

RockChalkH1N1: bighasbeen: My sarcasm detector is working, right?

Baseball has their own issues (lack of a cap AND a floor). My comment about the sarcasm detector was that the NBA does have a soft salary cap and floor, luxury tax, restrictions on max contracts, prohibitions against signing free agents if you are over the cap (Bird-rights and MLE aside) and structured deals.

This is the Nets own fault having nothing to do with salary structure in the NBA. If a team can't or won't pay $65-70 million in salary I don't feel at all bad for them when they go 17-65.

2009-12-02 11:06:56 PM
Speaking of basketball, these Rockets and Clippers need to slow down their scoring.

DamnYankees: Frankly the Raptors should be even more ashamed tonight.

I used to be a massive basketball fan, and followed the Raptors especially close. That being said. Who the hell is Sonny Weems, how long has he played for the Raptors and how far into Jay Triano's doghouse has Antoine Wright gotten himself that Sonny Weems can play 29 minutes and Antoine Wright can't even get off the bench.

As per the original point of this thread, I was checking the box score for this game and something stood out to me immediately. Has Trenton Hassell really been in the league 8 years now? Jesus tapdancing Christ, I remember him when he was tearing it up in D1 ball and it sure didn't seem like 8 years ago.

2009-12-02 11:09:50 PM
Ever been to a Nets game? It's depressing. The arena stinks on ice. There's zero atmosphere. The fans, all 200 of them, are lethargic. It's as bad a sporting experience as there is.

Makes sense. I won't be watching that crapfest anyway. The Saints will be going up against the Skins at the same time.

Meh. I would never go to a D'Antoni run-run team if I were looking to win a championship. They only reason those Suns did as well as they did was that a lot of the strong teams in the Western Conference over the previous 10-15 years were in the toilet (Lakers, Kings, Blazers, Rockets, Jazz).

Cleveland held onto Ilgauskas too long. It's great he has the record for games played and all, but what a farking waste of money. And yes, Mike Brown needs to go, but changing coaches (unless it is to Phil Jackson or Pat Riley) usually doesn't lead to playoff success. And I think Shaq is the only max contract/big free agent to win a championship with his new team.

To the first point: true enough.

The second: I doubt it. The Players Association is losing enough ground in the CBA that I doubt they'll be encouraging that. His best option is to go somewhere where the second high profile player could be maintained via Bird Rights or bringing in a new one to Cleveland.

2009-12-02 11:11:35 PM
I'd say they are playing pretty crappy teams like Chicago over the next 4-5 games. But then you have to realize... the Bulls at 7-9 hold the 7th seed in the east, so, they actually are supposed to represent a "playoff" caliber team.

devioustrevor: and how far into Jay Triano's doghouse has Antoine Wright gotten himself that Sonny Weems can play 29 minutes and Antoine Wright can't even get off the bench.

Maybe it has more to do with how far Antoine Wright got into the cupcakes that he can't get off the bench.

It's you. The NBA is great to watch. It's really at a very high level right now, probably as good as its been since the 80s.

But why would LeBron sign with them? There's literally 0 reason other than the city itself. I can't think of any reason he would sign with the Knicks over the Clippers.
