Imperialism: I bet DARPA labels balloons 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8 and people go crazy looking for the non-existent #7.On a serious note, you know some asshat is going to send punkrockgirl some false coordinates, so how are we going to verify what we get? Are we only allowed one guess or what?
Tachikoma: TheDoubleMan: Tachikoma: I'll keep a lookout in SE WY./no, wait, that's a silver balloonSE WY, eh? How YOU doin?/lives in scottsbluffI am so sorry. A town that's actually smaller than Laramie. Ouch./keep your eyes peeled, though, you should be able to see the whole town easily
DrFaustus: ibwahooka: I can search here in Augusta, GA.No, no, no, I've got Augusta, GA.and 4chan/what's up dude?
The Voice of Doom: netweavrI'm going to laugh if some jackass starts a group randomly putting up look-a-like balloons all over the country.Too much work. Lets photoshop some pictures and flood Twitter with those sightings.
netweavr: Wouldn't it be easier to look for the US Gov't vehicles now? I mean they have to already be moving to the locations for the balloons to be placed. So if you live in a small town and notice a Fed car, it's a pretty big hint.
invictus2: sweet, and for brigid_fitch
old_toole: Being that the balloons will only be up for 6 - 9 hours why do they give us over a week to submit. Not that I care just wondering
OscarTamerz: The website says the balloons will be in the continental U.S. instead of contiguous which means they might put one in Alaska. Anybody got Alaska?
Tumunga: I'm looking out of my mother's basement window right now...I don't see a thing, but I'll keep you posted./I live off Dr. Pepper and pop-tarts.//not really in my mom's basement...she's past.///my mommy was a saint.

goaliechic: Seems like the fark "Account created" date would be a good initial trusted agent factor. Not that there isn't crossover between fark and SA or 4chan or whatever, but someone who joined fark say, now, would be a little suspect.
CarriePrejean: old_toole: Being that the balloons will only be up for 6 - 9 hours why do they give us over a week to submit. Not that I care just wonderingBecause part of it is to see how people share the info amongst their networks. Obviously, no one person is going to find all ten.
wild9: I am game, lexington KY area.
Mr. Cabron: We should make a checklist of areas to checkTampa/St. Pete area(Pinellas Lab used to be around there)Plus any Lockheed Martin/Boeing offices/Facilities.
Mr. Cabron: We should make a checklist of areas to checkGiven that DARPA is Dept of Defense R&D. I'd keep an eye out in around:1.DARPA Offices2.Goverment R&D locations both DOD and DOE (both current and defunct)3.Army Base Locations4.University Campuses with large research grants5.National Parks6.Notable Internet LocationsSo I can think ofArlington, Virginia (obvious)DARPA field officesAlbuquerqueSanta FeNew Mexico in general and national Parks in the vicinityLivermore, Stanford, Alza, San Fran and pretty much all that area around Silicon ValleyEl PasoMIT/Harv./Cambridge, MAArgonne & the University of ChicagoTampa/St. Pete area(Pinellas Lab used to be around there)Plus any Lockheed Martin/Boeing offices/Facilities.
capturedforlife: boobsrgoodJust a thought, but head for the hills if you really want to help. Here in norcal, there's a summit nearby that gives a 360 degree view on a clear day. There are two more 40 and 70 miles NE and E respectively. For an investment of about six hours I can cover roughly 1000 sq. mi. by line of sight with some binocs. It would be so cool if Fark won this. I'd like that.Mt. Diablo??/In Sacramento//Can See Diablo easily on a clear day
missmarsha: do we have someone to monitor the twitter?
