I have a feeling most Farkers are used to being lonely.

2009-12-02 12:42:53 PM
The life of your loved one was brief?
Try this to help bring some relief:
They're no longer there?
Get rid of their chair!
Yeah, THAT ought to kill off the grief.

2009-12-02 12:47:30 PM
Somehow, I think it would be more depressing to sit at a table with only one chair.

IrateShadow: Somehow, I think it would be more depressing to sit at a table with only one chair.

That's why you sit at a desk in front of a computer instead.

An article on dealing with holiday grief that doesn't mention "stay hammered" as a fully workable option? Ridiculous.

2009-12-02 01:14:29 PM
So all I need is the one chair? Cool!

Pocket Ninja: An article on dealing with holiday grief that doesn't mention "stay hammered" as a fully workable option? Ridiculous.

There wasn't a need for conveying:
"Imbibing to 'hammered' and staying."
For holiday stress,
We do nothing less.
They figured it went without saying.

2009-12-02 01:44:52 PM
so is it worse to have empty seats at my table or to fill those seats with my worn-out blowup dolls?

I'm glad that the rhyming I ply
Has found welcome home in your eye.
However, I fear
That most Farkers here
Don't care about "how," more than "why."

What's a "table"? Is that what you call those things you sit around at AA meetings?

thomps: so is it worse to have empty seats at my table or to fill those seats with my worn-out blowup dolls?

Just to be safe, you should pick up some fresh blowup dolls.

I'm lonely, and there are never any empty chairs at my table.
If by "chairs" you mean "couch" and by "table" you're referring the the "coffee table in front of the TV".

hmmm, dog of 16 years died, no throwing table scraps over the shoulder knowing they will caught...*sigh*

So if someone unexpected shows up, they sit on someone else's lap.
Hmmm.

First thing to mine was this:

"I see a vacant seat," replied the Ghost, "in the poor chimney-corner, and a crutch without an owner, carefully preserved."

Come on... you can make someone else lonely just by being lonely yourself? Come on. That's almost on up there with "global warming."

/no, I don't believe it exists in the form that Al Gore claims
//but that's another thread

FTFA

"It's also OK to de-stress with a nap or bath, and skip parties when you're not up to it."

Did anyone else read that as, "...skip panties...?"

We thoroughly discussed this the other day. Where were YOU, mister?

Go sit in that empty chair in the corner!

Sort of - I got me some black window shades, so my nocturnal friends the rats and roaches can keep me company all day.

The lonlieness thread from yesterday was one of my favorites ever. I just wanted to hug the "try being in a loveless marriage" guy. Then I stayed in my pajamas and pretended I choose to be lonely!

Renowned transvestite sexologist: What's a "table"? Is that what you call those things you sit around at AA meetings?

No, those are called, "alcoholics."

2009-12-02 04:51:12 PM
I am never lonely. Once in a while I wish I had someone around to do something with, or talk to, then it goes away in about 15 minutes. That's about the same amount of time I enjoy being around most people. I have other things to do.

I spent Thanksgiving alone and I was really happy that I didn't have to listen for the phone to ring for my on-call job. Then I took the dog for a walk and made some cookies.

I'm probably some kind of weirdo.

a win would go a long way but honestly i'd settle for a close game: new years in san diego sounds like a good consolation prize to me.
