Most expensive decoy ever.
The guy would be a great 3rd down back for the Pats should Faulk retire. Jut saying..

2009-12-02 12:54:21 PM
I've seen him make plays I honestly think no one else could make, but those are so few and far between and really don't make up for the lack of production in other areas. Some of that is due to injury, and that's not his fault, to be sure. I'd love for the Saints to keep Reggie, but I think they'll be okay if he goes, too.

Chiefs are looking.
Pats will be looking.

Oh, those flashes of brilliance bookending seas of futility...those many great episodes of Dancing with the Stars during his punt returns...it's been a real gas, Reggie.

Hey, remember when it was a bad idea for the Texans to pass on him and get Mario Williams?

They should make him a WR and bring back Deuce.

Yeah, my USC friend is frantically trying to defend this possible action right now. He is a huge USC apologist..the emails I'm seeing are hilarious.

Last One Left: They should make him a WR and bring back Deuce.

slot receiver, like the Pats Welker.

I've never gotten the feeling that he really knows how to run in the NFL. He's still trying to run like he's in college, where those jukes and fakes will work on occasion. He doesn't seem to get that sometimes you just have to wrap the ball up for safekeeping, put your head down, and just try to plow forward to at least get back to the line of scrimmage.

I forget who said it, but somebody on ESPN put it perfectly - "he dances around because it worked every time in college, but the thing he doesn't realize is 98% of those defenders, quoting those NCAA ads, 'went pro in something other than sports.' They're bagging groceries or something."

That said, Reggie's really been brilliant at times. In recent weeks, in fact, the dancing's truly been kept to a minimum. We'll see if this is even true.

I've seen him run for like 500 yards in a game. Unfortunately 490 of them were sideways.

Seriously though, the Saints can throw to like 8 guys, and run a bunch of others. We don't need to be paying anyone star money, even if he was a star player.

If he's willing to take a pay cut and shift, that'd be awesome.

Oh yes.. in the same group.. there is a Texas fan too..
the vitriol/hate that goes back and forth.

2 SEC fans (Georgia and LSU) .. 2 USC fans, a Texas fan, a Neb fan, a Mizzou fan.
All legit fans too.. not bandwagon.

One of the USC fans is beyond sane, he is a jackass of a human, way off his rocker.

Redskin, and at 10 million per year. But it will still be the coach's fault he sucks

Watching him at Helix High School and USC..was insane! I always knew hed go pro...but was not sure if hed be a great pro or not.

But he has some crazy highlights in Helix and USC. Maybe he can find some place in the NFL where he fits in better. But the Saints..honestly dont seem to need him.

2009-12-02 04:14:44 PM
He would be a perfect fit in Philly now that it looks like Westbrook is really at the end of his career. They like to have a recieving running back with speed because of the amount of passing they do.

That is so blatantly obvious that it doesn't really need to be said.

The Saints need to pay Gregg Williams head coach money if that's what it takes to keep him, too.

HulkHands: Hey, remember when it was a bad idea for the Texans to pass on him and get Mario Williams?

And look at all that great success the Texans have had with a star DE who has a whole 5 sacks this season! They've won so much with Mario that it's an excellent move!

If you're going to use a #1 pick on a DE, he better be better than Mario Williams.

He had 26 the last 2 years. From what people have been sayin, he has a bum shoulder this year. Who knows?

Saints are already acting like they won the superbowl.

I thought it was just their fans.

2009-12-02 04:24:18 PM
I'd let Bush go as well, unless he's willing to take a massive pay cut. They could spend a middle round pick on a tougher RB more in the "Deuce" mold (maybe Hardesty out of Tennessee?) and just continue playing a platoon at RB.

Let's face it, as long as Brees and that good OL is there...they're set.

2009-12-02 04:24:55 PM
To be 100% honest if they do let him go I could see him ending up in Cleveland or Philadelphia. Lewis is retiring at the end of the season and Westbrook is getting there, but Philly has some backs they're pretty high on.

Hell, maybe he can go back up LT in SD until LT calls it quits.

Even the 4'8, 85lb Sproles is a better inside runner than Bush.

Put Bush and Vick on the same team. Two overhyped mediocrities.

2009-12-02 04:31:45 PM
I'd like to see him stay in a capacity that suits his talents (and our payroll), which I still believe are considerable, but if he does get traded... please not to the Falcons or the Panthers. He'll become the best running back the game has ever seen and we'll get to see him twice a year. I would say the Bucs too, but so far they don't seem to have a history of scooping up our players and turning them into the Saints' nemeses.

Lol. Don't forget they went to the NFC championship in Brees's first season. Without him there's no playoffs in '06 and they fail to win 5 games the last 2 seasons. And they certainly don't go 11-0 this season.

The defense was always the missing link on this team. Now that they've upgraded the players and added a new defensive coordinator, the window of opportunity has reopened.

I was told that the Texans should be bragging about that pick. Meanwhile, Young and Bush will be going to the playoffs twice and Houston still won't have cracked .500. Obviously Williams didn't help their team become as good as he was supposed to, either.

/no, Bush hasn't worked out as well in the NFL as it seemed he should've
//Young, however, does nothing but win, and was from Texas...I wish pro teams would, in the case of a tie, go with the local product

Everybody knows one of the stages of fan acceptance of another team's quality is Bargaining - "Well, I was rooting for the _____, but suddenly their fans just piss me off." Come on, you're better than that. :)

Maybe people should stop treating Bush as a running back, and put him in as a "wildcat" option, a slot receiver, and slap him around so he learns not to dance so much.

He might be a good wildcat option, but the Saints are not a team that should ever, ever consider taking the ball out of the hands of their best player.

Yeah, i sorta said that wrong. Other than Brees, they can work with a team of non-stars. They gotta be good, but The Saints don't need a Montana-to-Rice scenario.

Exactly. Not every team can do the Wildcat. If you take the ball out of Brees' hands, it means you remove his ability to read multiple pass options and hit someone if he gets in trouble. Often times this final pass option is a 40 yard bomb for a touchdown.

I don't know football perfectly, but I wonder how many of his amazing passes were second or third options on the play.

Assuming Reggie is willing to be paid for what he produces the Saints should keep him. He could very easily fit in with the Eagles as others have said, but the Eagles management is well know for being cheap as hell so I don't know if they'd roll in and drop a bunch of money on him.

Personally if I'd Reggie, I stay in New Orleans, accept less and make up the difference in endorsements* and the fringe benefits of getting paid millions to play on a good team in warm weather.

*My understand is Reggie is still fairly popular locally/regionally down there, so he can likely pick up a few TV spots and the like?

A great many of them. Brees excels in all things quarterbacking, with the exception of scrambling, and that's only because he doesn't have to, not because he's incapable.

Killer Cars: Obligatory "This is how goddamn accurate Brees is" video (new window)

The best part about that video was people around me were laughing about how Brees was going to be made a fool of in the Pats game as that video was being shown.

And then the game was played.

I think Bush would be a good slot receiver on any team.

He's fast, he can run routes (and learn to be much better if he had to) and he's a major threat in the open field. Besides Welker, who would really be better as a permanent short route WR?
