I can't believe they actually convicted her of anything. Not that I'm saying she's innocent, I just can't believe they actually convicted her.

Is there seriously not an actual article you could link to instead of this?

She was found guilty of "misappropriation," not "theft." A misdemeanor. Such crap.

You see, first I complained that there was no link to an article, and you immediately provided one. I then humorously complained that there was no BIE in my inbox, the joke being that you would then immediately provide that too. It kind of loses something when you have to explain it.

I wonder what is going to happen now? Will she step down or be impeached? Then who will the Mayor be, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake? Who is going to run in the next election?

/Baltimoron.

WBAL is reporting that she'll probably get probation and won't have to give up the office.

WJZ - Worst...coverage...evar. They couldn't get it right. Sharon Boobala was saying she was convicted on charges where she was found "not guilty."

My wife and I were in the hospital watching (she had a baby yesterday...girl, all are fine) and she and I were just laughing at how badly she was botching the story. We switched to WBAL where they knew wtf was going on.

From what I'm reading (pops), she'll be forced to step down/resign if she loses her appeals. If she does, the City Council President (Stephanie Rawlings-Blake) becomes Mayor. If I remember correctly, it's the same process by which Dixon became Mayor when O'Malley became Governor.

Is this the thread where I talk about Baltimore and all the crime and what kind of gun(s) I have and how The Wire was the most realistic show about black people I have ever seen and how I see black people all the time when I drive to work and they are exactly like that?

Just in case we need reminding that most of our elected officials would personally execute any of us for a couple of campaign dollars, (in this case gift cards she spent on electronics and shiat) a story like this one comes along.

/Keep f*cking up guys, we wouldn't want anything unusual to happen

in other news, the poor get gift cards?

so she's charged with stealing gift cards that were bought by the government stealing money from the tax payer.

makes sense...

It's Baltimore, party affiliation is redundant.

Its Baltimore. The Democrats are as corrupt there as the GOP is corrupt nationally.

There is no need to. There is only one party in Baltimore.

No, the cards were donated by her friends.

WTF Indeed: Its Baltimore. The Democrats are as corrupt there as the GOP is corrupt nationally.

Between New York, Boston, Chicago, Baltimore, DC, NO, LA and Houston, I think Dems have a lock on regional corruption.

Don't worry though, when you give the government the power to run your health care this type of thing won't happen; it'll be better than corporations.

Democrats tend to be in charge of large cities, because most people who live in large cities tend to be Democrats. So, when a mayor of a large city gets in trouble, he or she tends to be a Democrat.

Republicans tend to be in charge of small towns and rural areas, because most people live in small towns or rural areas tend to be Republicans. Plenty of them are corrupt too, but since they are just in charge of Buttfark, Alabama, nobody hears about it when they get caught.
