Well, sugar is easier to control than salt. And less critical.

Well they need to capture several military installations controlled by Coloniel Sanders.

We think of sugar as just junk food. In some countries it is a major necessary source of energy in peoples otherwise very energy-poor diets, and a huge economic force.
It isn't like they are rioting 'cause they won't get twinkies. It is actually a pretty big deal.

A major influencing factor in the February 1917 revolution in Russia was the banning of vodka, so I could totally see this having a bit of traction. The Economist this week has a piece on it, but I haven't gotten around to reading it.

Collusion among influential figures? In Pakistan? Against the national good? naaaah.

But they sell sugar at the grocery store for fifty cents a pound and it doesn't have broken glass in it.

I'm about to take down the government over high fructose corn syrup being used instead of cane sugar.

WHO'S WITH ME??

Why don't those dumb asses just grow corn and subsidize it like we do?

It works way better than that silly 'sugar' stuff.

They don't eat the nutritionally stripped white granule crap we do.

Raw cane juice provides one of the primary freaking sources of the carbs in their pretty weak diets. Also potassium and calcium among other things.
Don't eat it = get sick &/or die. You'd be crying too.

I got this image in my head of these two big bullies beating down a muslim kid on a playground. The bullies have a star of david and a us flag on their t-shirts. Then kid on the ground is wearing an "i ran" t-shirt. Then the two bullies turn around as this little girl in a cute dress holds up a gun and blows the two bullies away.

The caption reads, "Oops, we got the wrong guy!"

2009-11-30 12:39:44 AM
It is assumed that the little girl is Pakistan.

Islam, coups and nukes don't mix very well.
