FTFA
Reports say Woods had just pulled out of the driveway at his residence, located at 6348 Deacon Circle. As he began to drive on Deacon Circle he struck a fire hydrant and then a tree, reports say.

Must have been distracted by a low flying pelican.

2009-11-27 02:37:30 PM
Holy crap. I didn't want him to win 19 majors, but not this way.

2009-11-27 02:37:30 PM
2:25AM, hit a fire hydrant, then drove into a tree, airbags never deployed, so he was probably driving under 15MPH or so?

well that doesn't sound supicious.

and Ben Hogan unavailable for comment.

2009-11-27 02:37:35 PM
He wanted to be better that Hogan. Here's his chance.

/really I hope he is ok and back to beating golfballs soon.

I've always wanted to say this...

Fo'shizzle

2009-11-27 02:38:05 PM
Oh, cripes... I'll lift a coffee mug to his speedy recovery. I hope he'll be all right.

2009-11-27 02:38:11 PM
Who?

2009-11-27 02:38:17 PM
Sounds like he should have picked a different driver.

2009-11-27 02:38:26 PM
He should have used an iron instead of a driver.

2009-11-27 02:38:26 PM
the FHP said the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.

if the cause is still under investigation, how can charges be pending? wouldn't one want to wait until AFTER some investigation had determined there were reasons for charging Woods before you started the ball rolling?

2009-11-27 02:38:46 PM
Are we assuming he was drunk?

2009-11-27 02:38:50 PM
What is it with black dudes and Escalades?

2009-11-27 02:38:53 PM
Hm. Much as I don't really care about golf, I hope he gets better. He's a pretty good role model to a lot of people.

2009-11-27 02:38:55 PM
oh and:

FHP reports said his 2009 Escalade smashed in to a tree on Deacon Circle in Isleworth at about 2:20 a.m. Friday.

so, was he boozed up? on crack? what gives, article is lacking in details.

/20$ says he was booze/cracked up

2009-11-27 02:38:57 PM
I recently heard on the radio that according to the National Enquirer (stopped reading right there....) some sort of affair was being revealed. I wonder if this was troubling him.

I'm also gonna go ahead and guess alcohol may have been involved.

2009-11-27 02:39:00 PM
Is it a little weird that this is reported in Fox-Orlando (and Fark) but apparently no where else?

2009-11-27 02:39:08 PM
I blame the Caddy.

dslfobia: Who?

Professional athlete.

2009-11-27 02:39:22 PM
Sounds an awful lot like a DUI charge will be forthcoming.

2009-11-27 02:39:28 PM
2:20 am and he hits a fire hydrant and tree shortly after pulling out of his driveway? Whats the over/under on him having been drunk at the time?

2009-11-27 02:39:33 PM
Damn... so is he DWB or DWA?

metfish13: tiger drove into a tree?
win!

2009-11-27 02:39:33 PM
How can you pull out of your own driveway at 2am run over a fire hydrant and into a tree and not be completely hammered?

charges are pending.

Meaning he was drunk? (Accident was at 2:25 AM.) Or meaning they haven't decided whether to charge him?

2009-11-27 02:39:41 PM
Scruffinator: Are we assuming he was drunk?

he could have been fiddling with changing something in his CD player.

2009-11-27 02:39:44 PM
This wouldn't have happened if he was driving a Buick.

2009-11-27 02:39:45 PM
We sure it's him? That sounds like a John Daly tee shot, to me...

2009-11-27 02:39:45 PM
Came in to say "Double Bogey", beaten to the punch by "Mulligan"

/tips hat to you sir
//to the 19th Hole then?

2009-11-27 02:39:51 PM
Wait a minute...

He's in "serious" condition after a 15 MPH crash? Air bags didn't even deploy? Sounds to me like the car crash isn't why he's in the hospital. Sounds like something else is wrong.

2009-11-27 02:39:58 PM

Something doesn't quite add up. 2009 Escalade + fire hydrant + tree = "very serious condition", only if you were going pretty fast.

/hope he recovers fully

2009-11-27 02:39:58 PM
"Charges are pending"

Drunk at 2:20 AM and not getting a cab? Bad form man, it isn't like you are hard up for the cash.

2009-11-27 02:40:00 PM
Well, I hope he's gonna be OK. Life's a biatch, then you hit a tree. Or something

2009-11-27 02:40:01 PM
Goodbye fried rice, hello fried chicken!

2009-11-27 02:40:11 PM
News reports said he had a hole in one lung.
Doctors are going to have to slice him open.
Not out of the woods yet.

/I'll stop now.

In his defense, his street is lined with bunkers.

Skail: He's a pretty good role model to a lot of people.

Not after he gets charged with a DUI

2009-11-27 02:41:19 PM
Weaver95: if the cause is still under investigation, how can charges be pending? wouldn't one want to wait until AFTER some investigation had determined there were reasons for charging Woods before you started the ball rolling?

A blood alcohol test, which probably would have been done right away when he was brought in given the circumstances, would probably indicate "charges will be laid" before you even begin the rest of your investigation.
