the_ut_tick: Far be it from me to suggest that a website devoted to the promotion of liberal ideals would crop a video of a prominent conservative to illustrate a point, but they did. If you see the entire conversation, everything was in the context of post 9-11.

Before your whargarbl reflex kicks in, she is still wrong. There were several attacks on US soil under Bush after 9-11. There was a mall shooting, a grenade attack in Iraq by another soldier, a shooting at a jewish temple, and a shooting at a church to name a few.

The media (including media matters) chose not to call these terrorist attacks. Why? I have no idea.

You forgot the anthrax mailings

So:

2003: Sergeant Hasan Akbar of the 101st Airborne Division, murders several of his fellow soldiers, allegedly because of his fanatical devotion to Islam.

Not terrorism.

2009: Major Nidal Hasan of the 1st Cavalry Division, murders several of his fellow soldiers, allegedly because of his fanatical devotion to Islam.

Terrorism.

The Obama haters seem to think that terrorism happening during his term will somehow make him lesser to Bush, or something. And somehow, this will make them right about whatever it is they forgot they were talking about. And this will result in...?

Of course, this tactic will carry them into the Gumdrop Palace of the Kingdom of Freedomville for Eternity times Infinity.

Swampthing in Korea: ilikeracecars: Swampthing in Korea: The absence of terrorists attacks in the US after this wake-up call, and when the conflict against Islamic fundamentalism intesified, is factual, despite any rock/tiger comparisons a Farker wants to make.

Which is a good point, except that it has nothing to do with the fact that Dana Perino claims no terrorist attack occurred during Bush's term.

But it is to the credit of the Bush regime.

Meh, I'd rather give credit to the Atlantic Ocean. Afterall, we were so busy sending a constant stream of Americans over the Atlantic for the terrorists to kill they didn't need to bother crossing it themselves.

But the 3000+ soldiers who died don't seem to count, only civilians for some reason.

If Ft. Hood qualifies as terrorism, and, as such, must be held against Obama as a failure to protect us from terrorism, then, by this Ft. Hood standard, Bush, likewise, during his first and second term, failed to protect the U.S. against domestic terror attacks. Examples can be found here Link (new window)

Those terrorists in the Ft. Hood mold include the following: the D.C. Snipers (2002), Hesham Mohamed Hadayet, (2002) Naveed Afzal Haq, (2006) Mohammed Taheri-azar, (2006) and Sulejman Talovic (2007).

If you argue that Obama failed to prevent terror in the Ft. hood case, then you must also agree that Bush failed to prevent terror attacks in both his first (obviously) and second terms. Perino is wrong, no matter how you parse it.

/and if we are talking body counts, then Bush's failure is even more obvious.

well 3 of the 4 incidents did. the point I was trying to make was that there are terrorist attacks from time to time that no one really calls a terrorist attack. but they are. why this Ft. Hood guy is suddenly being called a terrorist when these others weren't is beyond me.

My apologies, It's a valid point, I mistook your comment to be anti-Obama whargarble.

retarded pussies as in vaginal deformation? Or like normal pussies but on retarded girls? Or do you just mean that they are pussies because they are afraid to hear what a retarded girl might say during intercourse? Phil Herup:
Except for the al Quaeda connections and "Alluh Ackbar" being screamed by the Fort Hood shooter.

And that negates the fact that it was a terrorist act how? Timothy McVeigh more than likely did not scream Allah Ackbar or converse with Muslim extremists before he blew up the Oklahoma Federal Building. Christian extremists who bomb abortion clinics are also domestic terrorists but I'm willing to bet they don't do so either.

Terrorism is about inciting terror, regardless of your reason. Christian, Islamic, Atheist; each can generate extremists willing to engage in murder.

Why can't he?

Not counting Abortion attacks, and adding one completely non-Muslim attack in for balance.

Clinton: 2 (First Trade Center Bombing, OK City)

Bush: 7 (9/11, D.C. sniper, Anthrax mailer, Hesham Mohamed Hadayet, (2002) Naveed Afzal Haq, (2006) Mohammed Taheri-azar, (2006) and Sulejman Talovic (2007).

A-and then you can say that WTC 93 was planned during the Bush term, a-and then you can---

Basically, it's business. This is business gone wrong with the wrong f*cking people, who were--as usual--underestimated by the Yale Bonef*ckernutter (or whatever) elite. Even Reagan, in 1983, with a mind made of tapioca, understood that these are not people who want to do business the way pink, sweaty, inbred mutant golfers do. He took one look at what happened in Beirut and said, "fark it." It was a rare moment of clarity, and nobody listened, least of all him, as he was immediately distracted by a moth.

Much like a business, the U.S.--Middle East relationship is riddled with middle-management tumorous growths that won't go away unless surgically removed. Rumsfeld, Cheney, Ashcroft, Rice, and yes even Powell were Cancerous Bureaucracy personified.

There needs to be calm. And there needs to be direct talk between nations. About business. Because that is all that anyone talking cares about. And that's all they should care about.

Terrorism is a stupid, imprecise word that really needs to go away. What exactly does it mean? Just any old politically motivated violence? Criminal acts that justify military responses? Whether an act is called "terrorism" may as well turn on whether politicians have something to gain by calling it that. Unite us against an outsider and common enemy that committed mass murder? Check, that be terrorism. Raise disturbing questions about a disaffected American who just committed mass murder? Nope, not terrorism. Unless he's a Muslim, then it's terrorism at least to Fox News.

Maybe Dana Perino was trying to get at that, and wasn't denying that the 9/11 criminal acts happened. Since she's kind of hot in a put upon underling sort of way, I'll give her the benefit of the doubt.

Good for you, Phil. I go out of my way to avoid being exposed to your idiocy and you found a way around it by making yet another troll comment that someone responded to.

Since you're so desperate for attention (no matter how negative), I'll give it to you. I don't have you on ignore because I'm a "pussy." I have you on ignore for the same reason I don't bother listening to any other douchebag I come across in my daily life. Simply because someone has something to say doesn't mean that it merits my attention.

For whatever reason, you have this uncontrollable desire to say stupid nonsense. Most of which is not supported by reality, facts or the ability to comprehend nuance. Maybe you do it because you don't have anything else going for you in your life. Maybe you like the attention. Maybe you have some sort of mental or emotional issue that compels you. I don't know, and I don't care.

What I do know is that Fark has some members who are very, very intelligent and who make some great contributions to conversations about current events. Sometimes I agree, sometimes I don't. What you don't seem to understand is that YOUR contributions are not contributions at all. They're cries for attention. I say this because I gave you a chance. I've read hundreds of threads where you have been proven wrong time and again. Yet you're incapable of acknowledging it. You either run away, dodge the issue, or ignore it completely and continue to gleefully drop fat turds in the punch bowl.

So I finally got tired of giving you a chance. You proved that it's a waste of time to bother with you. Unfortunately, your arguments are the equivalent of low-hanging fruit, and for so many people here, it's just too tempting to pass up. You're a scab just begging to be picked. An argument with you is an easy victory And now I have to negotiate my way through an otherwise interesting that's packed with people who took your bait and want to prove you wrong, point out your idiocy and generally mock you (not like it matters... so long as one way or another, someone else is acknowledging your existence).

But good for you. You got just a little more of the attention you were so desperate for in the first place.

/and before you cream your pants at the hope that I give you more attention... sorry. This is it.
