Oh cool now I won't need an extra explaination for the bodies I put there. Do they have pictures of the property?

It also might help me get a better deal.

real shaman: How in the hell does one accidentally build a house on an Indian mound?

Why does the homeowner think his basement is the proper place to store human remains? How does the agent not discover a pile of bones before showing a house? All kinds of weird fail in this story.

Contrary to popular belief, not all NAs lived in small isolated teepee tribes. A lot of them had rather large, fortified cities, and would build important structures like temples, burial cites, the chief's hut, etc. on huge earthwork mounds to keep flood or rain water from damaging them. I could see someone seeing one of those mounds and thinking, hey I can build a basement here that wont flood because its above the groundwater level.

2009-11-24 11:12:41 AM
Also, NEVER build a pool on this property. It will only cause pain and distress later on.

A real estate agent showing a house got to the basement and found about 100 human bones in a corner.

That's why I built a false wall...

The house wasn't just built on the burial ground. First they dug
up all the bodies, pissed on 'em, and then buried them again upside-down.

Because if you call some authority then they are going to want to do an archelogical survey of the dam property at your expense. If you find what you suspect to be indian remains or artificats on your property and you want to develop that property it is cheaper to hide or ignore the artificats then to bring in the authorties.

Still the homeowner really should have dumped those remains in a creek, river, swamp or quarry. Now he is in trouble for not reporting and will have to pay for the farking archelogical survey of the farking property.

Stupid farking indians always burying their ancestors in desirable locations, getting in the way of development, and squatting on the land. Don't they know that this is the white mans destiny to build Walmarts there.

You think that's bad, I bought a house with an alarm system where we were supposed to just buy out the remaining year on the contract. When we tried to transfer the contract, the alarm company said that they didn't do that and we would need to sign a new contract for two years. When the two years was done, we wanted out but they said that they actually owned the alarm equipment and would have to come and remove it all when the contract ended (tearing up the house). They said we could extend for one more year and they would just leave the equipment.

We should have just told them to get bent. It was never our contract to begin with. They could have gone after the original owners to pay for the contract and equipment.

I would take ghosts over the farking extortionists at the alarm company.

Exactly. A burial ground I might be able to understand but a MOUND? Seriously? An actual burial mound doesn't at least twig the curiousity of the bulder?

erie coincidence: i was just speaking to my co-worker about things the previous owner had left in the house he just bought (blinds, etc) and i said "well, as long as they didn't leave a whole bunch of dead bodies in the basement!"

i gotta show him this article now.

Throwing the bones in the basement is the weirdest part. After you find the first one, wouldn't you call the police? I can only guess that it was some grizzled old man who didn't want excavators on his property, so decided not to report it.

When the listing agent went through the house the first time, the owners probably just steered her from that particular corner or covered it up. Also, this agent could have been someone other than the listing agent & was more curious. Who knows? Yeah, there's lots of fail in the article that could have easily explained the glaring questions.
