It always baffles me that, when criminals get a gun, decide to commit a crime...and then they go after a place like a bagel joint. Just how much did they plan on getting from that heist?

Hey, bagel carts are pretty scary!

Maybe. At least according to the criminals.

you're assuming criminals are smart folks! I don't think these 2 idiots are master criminals... they're going after easy $$...the ones we don't hear or see on the 5 pm news, they're the ones that get the big loot.

Eh. Einstein's is tolerable for a national chain.

But if you really need a good bagel in Florida, it will be located South of Boca Raton.

I think that's the point. Nobody expects to get robbed at a bagel joint. They're not prepared, there's no security. It's easy money.

If I were a criminal with a gun, I'd specifically target places like bagel shops, yarn stores, farmer's markets...places with lax security & slow/weak proprietors. Sure; it's small potatoes, but I could knock over a half dozen a day with minimal chance of incident. Meanwhile, robbing high-security places; like banks, gas stations, and doughnut shops would pose a significant risk. Sure there's more profit, but prep time & getaway effort is also much more involved.

It's a simple cost/benefit analysis.

This reminds me of that time when my friends and I, bored and hungry, decided to steal some hot dogs from a vendor on the street corner. One of us ordered a hot dog (extra onions and all that), then took off. The vendor, naturally, was rather pissed off by this and chased him. The rest of us grabbed the cart and ran with it. We stuffed our faces with hot dogs, then figured it'd be funny if we brought the cart to the top of the stairs leading down to the subway - the idea was that when the vendor saw it, we could let go and watch him run to grab it before it went down, and we could have a good laugh at that. Well, the cart was heavier than we expected, and it went down the stairs and killed some guy. We wound up going to a juvey prison and got raped repeatedly by Kevin Bacon and a couple of his co-workers.

Good times...

I hate to argue, but that shop is smack dab in the center of College Park... one of Orlando's better neighborhoods. Now I hate Orlando more than most, having lived there for over ten years, but I lived 3 blocks from that shop and loved the area.

And those of us who are still here are happy you left. I hope the door didn't hit you in the arse on the way out.
