Now, having not read the article of course, I would think that being in the Iraqi Navy would be very, very bad. Considering that you're talking about costal patrol boats against the, you know, USS Theodore Roosevelt and her entire battlegroup.

that's farking awesome. and i bet that saddam does pay them to sit on their asses. i'm sure it's nominally to protect the warships, but no one in italy is going after the ships, so there's nothing for them to do. damn, someone needs to pay me to live in italy, raise a flag in the morning, and then drink coffee the rest of the day...

Sounds like the Ethiopian navy after Eritrea seperated. Ethiopia is now landlocked. Its ships (don't know if they still have them) were stuck in some foreign port. The sailors maintained and painted them, but they didn't really have a purpose. Maybe if they mounted tracks on them...

considering that Iraq has very little coast line in the Persian Gulf, it's no surprise that they have such a small Navy.

America should find these guys, make them surrender and use the boats. Then we can sell them for a profit to somebody ;)

Actually, this is good advice if you are joining the US military and don't want to get into any sort of messy ground combat. Just keep it in your pants if you go to Japan.
