7 down thousands more blood sucking union bosses left to go.

2009-11-22 01:19:35 PM
Before I RTFA , I knew it was a labor union....

Why is that?

/farking asshole labor unions.

2009-11-22 01:29:56 PM
So what's the actual story here?

2009-11-22 01:53:44 PM
How they hell do you (unions) go from fighting blatant terrible work conditions to being douchebag leeches that hinder and destroy their own industries?

2009-11-22 02:29:09 PM
Yeah, I'm going to trust a blog that's schilling Sarah Palin's book in the sidebar. Yeah, that's some fair and partial reporting right there.

2009-11-22 02:31:49 PM
Boy Scouts deserve any beating they get.

Right. Because that proves he didn't quote the article to which he linked (new window) accurately.

Oh, wait... he did:
Allentown union official Nick Balzano has been a political punching bag all week because he threatened to file a grievance against the city for allowing a Boy Scout to clear a walking path in a city park.

Three days of taking body blows nationally from conservative pundits, a rebuke from the Lehigh Valley's congressman and even a lashing from his own union led Balzano to voluntarily resign his position Thursday as head of the local Service Employees International Union.

Balzano said he and seven other executive officers of the local SEIU stepped down.

In this economy the blogger would rather take jobs away from Americans? He must be a socialist NObama supporter.

2009-11-22 03:58:05 PM
They're living there in Allentown, where it's hard to keep a Boy Scout down.

I'm neutral on Unions (I belong to one, and it's a good one, but I also recognize the fact that there are some out there that have gotten so fat that the greed outweighs the need.), but c'mon, these guys are in the fu*king janitor's union. Of course they're a little touchy.

We're just lucky no one gets injured by stray skull fragments when one of these guys blows his own head off for ending up being a 45 year old professional, unionized janitor.

The little fascist organizations the comprise the American Taliban: Cops, Firemen, Boy Scouts, Union bosses, public school administrators, district attorneys...the list is long. But at least we are free.

FloydA: So what's the actual story here?

That even the SEIU has the sense not to fark with the Scouts. Webelos, maybe; they're smaller but at that age where they won't snitch to their parents.

2009-11-22 04:38:29 PM
Unions are usally there to prevent the firing or discipline of the slackers or poor workers.

2009-11-22 04:38:38 PM
Union bosses like this or the Boy Scouts as a whole... not sure which I think is worse.

/Eagle scout

2009-11-22 04:40:32 PM
It's because the Boy Scouts would only allow "morally straight" boys to do the work.

2009-11-22 04:41:01 PM
"They call out the goons, we call out the national media...it's the Boy Scout way!"

/whatsamatter abagadro, wash out of Cub Scouts?

Deadhouseplants: Yeah, I'm going to trust a blog that's schilling Sarah Palin's book in the sidebar. Yeah, that's some fair and partial reporting right there.

Lest your finely-honed and precious sensibilities be irreparably damaged by exposure to the virulent poison of a Palin book ad, a direct link to TFA.

The controversy began last week when Balzano warned that the union may file a grievance against the city after officials allowed a local Boy Scout to clear a 1,000-foot walking path in Kimmets Lock Park.

"We'll be looking into the Cub Scout or Boy Scout who did the trails," Balzano said, and told council that given the layoffs of 39 union members, no one except union members may pick up a hoe or shovel, plant a flower or clear a walking path.

Kevin Anderson, 17, is doing the volunteer work to help earn the rank of Eagle Scout. He said he'd already toiled for more than 200 hours on the project, which he said will keep people from having to traverse a busy road.

Alright your point is pretty clear except for the firemen part. I don't see them out trying to do much else than save lives which is the exact opposite of the Taliban.

Wow - another original headline.

2009-11-22 04:55:20 PM
I don't know what the f*ck this is about, but given the presence of "Boy Scouts" int he headline, I assume it involves homoerotic fantasies.

I saw this on the news last night. It was just a single guy in the union complaining. The head of the union did not agree with him.

Just one guy making all of them look bad.

Barakku: How they hell do you (unions) go from fighting blatant terrible work conditions to being douchebag leeches that hinder and destroy their own industries?

This is what happens when a group is organized to fix a problem, then fixes the problem, then realizes "Oh shiat, what are we going to do now?). Kinda ironic that they became the douches they fought against.....

2009-11-22 05:01:34 PM
Unions are for queers.

Deadhouseplants: Yeah, I'm going to trust a blog that's schilling Sarah Palin's book in the sidebar. Yeah, that's some fair and partial reporting right there.

See, that's part of the problem, a website sells crap in a sidebar and if it's not YOUR choice of party, it has to be slanted. If i had access to a popular book and got money back from your order or click, i'm putting it on the site. It is a sell.

So you don't go to Walgreens? They sell it, must be a conservative company.

/lol, u stupid.

hmmmm i appear to be unable to comprehend whats going on.

yet i still want to be outraged and angry about it.

i'm generally libreal socially and i suppose fiscally im not sure perhaps im apathetic

how should i feel about this?

Barakku: How they hell do you (unions) go from fighting blatant terrible work conditions to being douchebag leeches that hinder and destroy their own industries?

Because power instills a desire for, and the ability to gather, more power.

Many, possibly most, union supporters are no more stupid than the right wingers who think the politicians or pundits they support give a shiat about them or the values they pretend to adhere to. Same thing goes for the left too.

Fact is those in power are going to do whatever they can to gather more power, and since the dawn of man there is only one easy route to getting any limited resource = take it away from someone else. The only innovation is that now they have better ways of convincing people to surrender it willingly, and control of a media willing to convince us that such claims are some sort of kooky conspiracy.

But what if they're making rules against letting homosexuals take young boys camping? Is it okay to pick on the Boy Scouts then?

You either life in a small community protected by a volunteer corp or the firefighter's union already has local government's balls mounted on the wall in their stations. Most firefighters unions have already taken over local ambulance services as well. I rememmber the last strike. No emergency services for a few weeks. Many deaths. They got everything they wanted. One of my Dad's best friends is a station chief. Works on average about every other day. Gets paid six figures (damn good in the midwest) and has his own house-painting business which he runs on his off-days. Nobody will cross the firefighter's unions. They never lose a fight for more money, fewer hours, or better benefits. Oh, and their health coverage is 100% for the whole family. No out of pockets costs or payroll deductions for anything.
/should have been a fireman
//but you need 'connections' to even get an interview

If there's anything I've learned on Fark, it is that Unions Are Responsible for Every Problem In America, and that CEOs Must Make Billions to Ruin Their Companies or America Will Fall!

My union went on strike and won this week, so I'm really getting a kick out of these replies.

Seriously, though -
Unions fail when their administration gets too big and becomes a labor broker in its own right, and thus a middleman with interests separate from the union members.

I don't really give a crap about this SEIU local, but I also wouldn't care one bit about standing up for the rights of some kid who chooses to support an organization whose administration has been completely coopted by mormons, and that accepts gay-bashing while calling itself a philantrhopic organization. Fark the boy scouts right in the merit badge.

Kid wants to do charity? Fine. More power to him. He wants to do it while wearing the uniform of an organization that embraces hypocrisy and hate? Fark him. Teach him about the real world, and that who you choose to align yourself with matters.

They need a national law that says no person has to join a union to keep their job. Or be prevented from joining one.
