I understand that he gave it to fans, but isn't it expected that something that large could be caught by a few people?

Both times I've seen sticks come into the stands (back before we had those stupid nets at the ends) security came and took them away.

I'd be happy if someone from the stands threw some sticks onto the ice when the Bruins are playing, because the ones they are using aren't helping them win many games lately.

Be happy there are no Jets in the league anymore. There you'd find a lot of fighting.

Same thing happened when Richie Blackmore threw part of his wrecked guitar in the audience at the St Paul Civic Center many years ago.

It's not the playoffs, so it likely should be no problem.

I'm sure this had more to do with the amount of beer these idiots drank during the game. This is something I would expect from AA Night at a Flyers game.

That's exactly what I thought. I watched it 3 times to be sure. I'm assuming the guy in the second row was with the people who did get it.

It's jackasses like this that will cause the NHL front office to make a rule against players throwing equipment into the stands. Not that I ever sit close enough to catch any of it, but come on people.

Because that doesn't happen every where right? Right? It's not like brawls break out every game in the stands at the Cell like they do at the Madhouse. Seriously every Hawks game I've gone to has had at least one brawl between drunken idiots.

I surprised this stuff doesn't happen more often.

Lundquist does this if he gets a game star etc. Always multiple people with hands on the stick trying to get it. Last time I swear a middle aged guy was pulling it out of a little girls hands.

They should really just hand it to someone as they are walking back down the tunnel etc

Pucks are smaller so there isn't as much chance but still.

No shiat... Looked a little better last night with Lucic back in the line-up, but the offense is just not clicking right now on a consistent basis... Really disappointed in Wideman this season, too... He's one of those guys you never hear about when he's playing the puck well, but it becomes obvious how important he is to the defense when he's stinking the place up.

Hopefully they can turn the season around before January...

/Go Bruins!

Its (still) early. With Savard and Looch out, there's a domino effect of people playing in roles they aren't used to...thus the craptastic start to the season. Sturm and Ryder have been far below potential as well, which exacerbates the situation. If they aren't vastly improved in 3 weeks, I'll start to get worried. If they're still playing like this in January (and everyone is healthy), I'll be calling for someone's head.

The regular season sucks. They probably can still have a losing record & get to the playoffs, so it's no big deal.

I went to the Canucks-Hawks game last season with the huge brawl on the ice. When we were there some season ticket holder a few rows behind us was talking shiat to my friend (who was wearing a Roenick sweater) telling him to sit down (my friend is only 5'6" or so, so it wasn't like he was obstructing anyone's view) or he'd get his ass kicked. My friend simply turned around and glared while saying "shut the fark up". No fight happened, but some of the Hawks season ticket holders are assholes.

/and asshole superfan had his kids in tow, so he was pissy that my friend swore in front of them
//and I was stuck sitting next to some fatass whose legs took up half of the leg room in my seat
///long time Hawks fan, but the attitudes of some of the longtime ST holders is embarrassing - they look down on the non-ST holders
////cool story, bro

The president of hockey at least understands his brand by allowing fights. If there were no fights between the players, no one would ever go to a hockey game, because they could watch paint dry at home for free.

Wideman is, IMHO, showing the exact player that he will always be. For every 2 or 3 good plays that he makes, he'll make one that would be embarrasing if done by a peewee player. I've never seen a player more consistently trip over his own skates because of how poorly he played the puck than DW.

He's fine as a second pairing, but it still seems that some B's fans have hopes of him being a #2, behind Chara. I just don't see it.

Having said that: it's tough to single him out for criticism, with how poorly Ference, Sturm, Ryder, Wheeler, et al, are playing.

I think Chirelli said as much recently... I'm not ready to break out the pitchfork and torches just yet, anyway...

Yeah, he's got some boneheaded plays and embarrassing slips under his belt, to be sure. When he's on his game, though, he's a pretty solid defense man who can move to puck well, in my opinion.

Agreed... Krecji has been pretty disappointing this season so far as well. Coming off an injury, but still...

Looks like the guy next to the woman just caught the stick and held it for a second, not fighting or anything, and the plaid guy started whacking him. The plaid guy didn't even take a second to let the chick say "I think it was for me" and the other guy to say "okay, you're probably right". Plaid guy gets the blame for this one.

If I remember when this video came out correctly, this wasn't a white sox-cubs thing, this was fans of both teams beating up a guy who stole a woman's purse. Granted this probably wasn't the ideal way to deal with the situation, it is still a step above the normal idiocy.

First of all it's not an actual player's stick. It's a toy replica. Second of all he was giving it to a little girl in the stands. The players look for kids to give these to and there is alway some douche bag, usually fat with half a beer in his hand, standing there trying to grab it. It's the same idiots who loose their mind over a key chain or an ugly t-shirt being given away as a promotion. Most people are morons.

Hockey fans are crazy. I am one of them.

When I was in Minnesota we still had the Northstars and brothers and sisters, when the Blackhawks came, it was ON. Anyone wearing a Blackhawks jersey was fresh meat. There were brawls everytime, just beating the crap out of eachother. Fun stuff hahahaha!

You're getting "crazy" confused with "retarded." Been to many a Sharks game, never seen a fight that wasn't on the ice. Because Sharks fans actually are classy.
