Kurt Greenbaum was being a dick. I'm shocked ;)

The comments section pretty much took care of old Kurt. What a Pussy.

2009-11-19 07:23:52 AM
Then, while I was in our 10 a.m. news meeting, someone posted in reply a single word, a vulgar expression for a part of a woman's anatomy.

... Mulva?

sepuku2: The comments section pretty much took care of old Kurt. What a Pussy.

To which he (or the paper) fittingly responded by locking down the comment thread.

Good link, though. Worthy of my "one thing that gets me really pissed off at the world" for the day.

Sheesh. What a douche that guy is. Of all the crap that gets posted on the internet and probably on that site, he chose to pursue a guy who used the word "pussy" (or an equivalent)?

What a dickfreckle.

2009-11-19 08:18:35 AM
Now, where, exactly, is the Nanny State supposed to be?

2009-11-19 09:37:28 AM
Ok, no offense, but the guy that posted the vulgar word...there's more to this than that. I'm guessing this was the last straw in a long line of actions on that employee's part. It doesn't seem at all a reasonable action on the part of the school to have him resign immediately. (Besides, while vulgar, eating *uss* did, technically, fall into the realm of the subject being discussed on the blog.

/And Kurt Greenbaum is a douchie-douche tool

Twat was the word? I c*n't think of what it could be at the moment.

In other news, for Kurt Greenbaum it is too easy to just ban an IP address. He tracks down people that violate the message board's rules. He should be fired for wasting time instead of working.

FeFiFoFark: can someone point out the origin of meep. I missed that day.

It was a fake swear word that a school decided to ban in Mass.

FeFiFoFark: can someone point out the origin of meep. I missed that day.

Some school principal was suspending kids for using that word because it wasn't in the dictionary, IIRC.

Fail. It didn't cost him his job - he resigned on the spot because he was an idiot. Like a teacher could get fired for that!

Actually, I have no problem with what Kurt did. Hiding behind anonymity has turned pretty much every one of into a-holes. When you post from work, indirectly you are representing your company. Harassing people, making threats...if more people realized how easy it is to track down people doing this kind of thing...well, maybe it would stop.

/not really...but I still think it's funny when idiots like the guy who got fired have things like that happen to them. You pays your ticket, you takes your chances.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Work is moving boulders and shoveling roadkill. Desk-people have no skills other than social and licking. Penis.

Work computer, use it only for work. My privacy is too important to me to fool around on a corporate machine. Just wait until you get home.

This whole thing seems shady, but I bet there is more to it.

First of all, the guy posted his comment, the admin deleted it, and then he re-posted it.

Second of all, the admin may not have needed to spend a lot of time tracking down an IP address. If the source of the post was logged as "blahblahblah.school.xx.us" or something, it may have been immediately obvious to the admin that it was originating from a nearby school.

To play the devil's advocate here, it's possible that the admin just thought that a student was trolling their board and called the school for that reason. I wonder if the admin would have really called up any other business to complain.

It also seems odd that the school employee "resigned on the spot." It doesn't seem reasonable for the school to immediately ask him to resign, but schools are messed up places. Or it's also possible that the guy was a real jerk and flipped out when confronted, or he had a lengthy discipline record and this was the last straw, or even that he had been doing other shady things with his computer and figured he better just step out.

2009-11-19 12:43:43 PM
The article does not say that the guilty person was fired or even threatened with being fired. It says that they resigned on the spot. Big difference.
