My company is at about 40% growth for the year and we're actually a bit overstaffed since the company is not sure what to expect this Oct-March (our normal busy season). The same season last year we did twice what was projected.

My pay raise and profit sharing come in February.

Count me in the unemployed who don't worry about this crap right now. Outside of the whole "half pay on unemployment and no bennies" thing, morale is pretty high here, though admittedly I'm only on Week Two of this whole thing so there's plenty of room for it to crater.

But then again, I'm unemployed due to retarded leadership not knowing how to use a business analyst to make their back office not suck to work in, so... y'know.

Perhaps it might be useful to remind you that those leaches are the owners of your company. They do not invest their money to give you a job. They invest their money to make more money. The management are the leaches, and investors should have a far better say in their pay than they currently do.

Actually, that is not even close to correct. The modern corporate legal construct is predicated on a deal between investors, labor, and government. Corporations do not exist strictly to benefit investors. That is a simplication for CNBC viewers, engineering students taking econ 101 for general ed, and teabaggers.

If 'productivity', as measured by the BLS, meant anything, the average household should be able to have a 1960s standard-of-living (inflation adjusted) with one worker working something under 20 hours a week.

The fact that it's only 25% suggests that the mass prescription of antidepressants has been reasonably effective.

My employer went all out this past year with a brand change, new building, etc., we aren't hiring any new people anytime soon so it's going to be avalanche after avalanche of shiat until sometime next year. Good times.

The people where I work haven't had a raise in 3 years and the ones that were hired in had their wages frozen and they can't even get their increases that they are due.

My wifes department went from 24 to 6 over the course of the fiscal year ending last june, and they're still required to accomplish the same amount of work. Sure, the overtime is nice, but burnout is quickly approaching as they basically had to increase productivity 400% under the threat of being the next one to go.

I am busy as hell and have tasks stacked up of weeks.

Just got home from the longest day at work I've ever had in my 2+ years with this company. Long (cool) story (bro) short, they're trying to expand the reach of our product without having to hire any additional people. Today was an "experiment" to see how it would work and resulted in a whole bunch of people making OT, night differential and meal penalties.

Did just that. Try paying both halves of SSI, pay into unemployment for your wages, even though your not eligible, and then pay 100% of health insurance/benefits on top of that. Oh, don't forget about the accountant to help with the MASSIVE amount of paperwork for a simple sole proprietor LLC. I made less money, but took home more pay when I worked for the evil phone company.

It's alright though, I sell health insurance, so my job may soon be obsolete. It's so fun having the sword of Damocles hanging over your head with absolutely no safety net. But I'm sure there are plenty of good paying jobs out there, right?...... right?

Dow's a funny example because of how much the botched gunpoint takeover of Rohm and Haas ended up costing. Incidentally most former Rohm and Haas employees are probably in this 25%... if they still have jobs.

Oh look management is suddenly worried that the economy might be turning around. This means that other companies might start hireing and those underappreciated, overworked, and underpaid peons that they beat down during the recession just might jump ship.

Who has company loyalty now a days? What company earns loyalty? They abuse when times are bad with no bonuses, raises, and pay cuts. And they abuse you when times are good with mandatory overtime, bonuses that do not bring your hourly wage up to minimum wage for the number of hours worked, and being passed over for promotions, because you are too valuable to lose.

Yeah fark companies. I've not been loyal to a company since my first job. That company tried to kill with unsafe working conditions, unsafe equipment,unholy amount of hours worked and it was the family buisness.

These days the captain doesn't go down with the ship.
Instead the execs take all the lifeboats and the safe with them leaving the crew and clients on board.
