I wish people would put a bit more faith in the market than buying flags and putting flag stickers on their cars.

Yeah, the whole market situation is beginning to piss me off. I've been listening to "the market is in recession, we're all doomed!" for months and it's totally unwarranted. I remember a few months ago when the market actually started to recover...then a few major analysts go on air and say "well, you know, we're not out of the woods yet, things are still really shaky." Boom, market falls.

Now, we've got a national plea for people to invest in the United States and buy stock. But of course, we get a massive loss -- which yes, I know, was as expected for the first day or two, but it still blows. That rings even more true when I have a feeling a lot of amateur or long term investors really are doing just that. I know my family in particular was bargain hunting through a lot of the companies that took some massive first day losses. The problem is, the Johnny McRichy Richboys couldn't bear to risk losing any of their bottom line -- hence the continuing loss.

Maybe I'm just cynical. Buy some motherfarking stock!

Economics is a study in sheep mentality. If everyone wakes up and thinks the economy will tank, it tanks. This is why I wish Bush hadn't gone around trying to "talk down" the economy so he could pass his tax cut.

Before you knee-jerk conservatives chime in, no, the down economy isn't all Bush's fault. He was just a contributing factor.

Hmm... We haven't heard from Greenspan in a while. Is he still alive?

methinks greenspan was given ye olde heave ho when bush came in

Yeah greenspan is alive and kickin. He was stuck in austria(?) when the airlines grounded and then flown back to andrews by military craft two days later.

Let's exalt something else. Praise Jebus! Son of Zod! By Crom, this market will recover. So mote it be.

Buckshot: You're neither wrong nor cynical. Hell, right now I *wish* I had a few grand to play with in the stock market. Invest in defense. Invest in bombs.

MonkeyMan, that cracks me up! Cracks my nuts up too.
