Good. And I'm glad they threatened the wife with deportation, and I'm sorry that there probably won't be any jail time for the guy. They deserve far worse than is going to happen to them. And part of any sentence they receive should be that they can never, ever, in any way, shape, or form, earn any sort of money or other payment that in any tangible way relates to this entire thing. In fact, they should each have to lose a finger every single time they end up on camera. Throw them in the woods and let them live out their lives as hermits. That's how you punish attention whores.

They're not both going to get off with just probation.

They're going to put him away, and give her heavily supervised probation.

They're not just going to get the one charge, either. They're going to cop to the one with the Larimer County people, and while they're waiting for that, the FBI and the FAA are going to want to talk to them.

What a comedown. I understand they won't get to keep their copy of "Up".

They'll probably end up with a show that follows their community service work.

Now if only there were charges that could be brought against octomom and the doctors who helped her.

I was hoping for an article about Ambush Bug.

Did we ever get to the bottom of which one of them it was who farted during that first interview with Larry King, where that little Falcon kid spilled the beans about their balloon hoax?

/this is the only situation ever in which those words can be strung together into a question that is perfectly sensible and relevant

The Goog agrees: No results found for "spilled beans fart balloon".

I fear what could happen if the Japanese find out that query yields no results. It sounds like a problem they'd be quick to find a solution for.

I was thinking popcorn.

First Class Douche Bag.

I wonder how much they shelled out for high-profile super-lawyer David Lane just to end up pleading guilty...

2009-11-12 04:19:05 PM
Oh. I thought headline was about the extended credit bubble.

2009-11-12 04:19:06 PM
What did Shawn Johnson submit that headline?

There's another porn shock site in development as we speak. It involves a girl putting beans up her butt and then farting them into a balloon.

2009-11-12 04:20:47 PM
Dammit, restitution... couldn't get reparation out of my head >:(

2009-11-12 04:20:57 PM
So does that mean that they are not off the hook with the Feds?

As much as I would dearly love to think that this is the end of this silliness, I know better. Sadly, we'll see these people again.

2009-11-12 04:21:50 PM
Sadly, even a small TV or film deal will reward them enough to make this all worthwhile.

Yeah, but this one gave me an immense sense of self satisfaction when I accidently had a rare moment of prescience and totally got it before I clicked on the link.

/usually out of the loop (like the liter I am)

I hope they enjoy their visit from child services too. It'll be interesting to see how long it takes before he gets the kids taken away.

No you didn't. This one was better than yours.

I hear they're just going to make a lot of rice krispy treats.

/hopefully not obscure

2009-11-12 04:24:05 PM
Didn't they read "Boy who cried wolf"

2009-11-12 04:24:53 PM
FTFA: Millions of people across the country watched the saga on television for nearly two hours as military aircraft tracked the balloon in the air and rescuers chased it on the ground.

I really wish news outlets would stop referring to this as a "saga". Norse mythology and epic Viking tales are sagas. Lame attention-whoring hoaxes lasting two hours are not.

Here's hoping that family can rise above all of this and that nobody gets carried away going after some "justice". They've all been through a lot and I'm sure it hasn't been a gas for them.

2009-11-12 04:26:52 PM
God that video of the kid saying "it was for the show" if painful to watch. The dad couldn't look more uncomfortable. What a douche.

2009-11-12 04:26:53 PM
That family is nuttier than squirrel shiat.

I have Pop-Pop in the attic.

2009-11-12 04:28:14 PM
What sucks is that the dad probably beat the poor kid for outting him on national television. Or at least berated him for it. Poor kid.

2009-11-12 04:28:19 PM
I bet somebody is pitching a "reality" show about these assholes to TLC as we speak/type.
