I still miss the days there were canals on Mars, myself.

And egg-laying bug queens.

This is proof, proof I say, that we need to spend several hundred billion dollars to send actual real live human being astronauts up there to see just wtf is going on.

I say we drop an icy comet on Mars. It's the only way to be sure we're wiping out all the Martians. Sure, they've only got primitive technology, but better safe than sorry.

So convinced was Carl Sagan that there was once life on Mars that he wrote in one of his early books that the moons of Mars were hollow vaults in which the dying Martian race stored their artifacts!

/ What do you expect from a pothead?

I dunno. Looks like the comedy mask if anything. It just has very vague facial features. Cool rock, but not evidence of martians...unfortunately

I wish that were the case. The book was "Intelligent Life in the Universe." The thesis was presented as probably correct.

Am I the only one having trouble figuring out how that would be oriented? North relative to what?

In our solar system almost all planets rotate near the plane of the ecliptic.

So...north relative to north.

FTFA - "...where in recent years the landforms have been found to be shrinking."

ZOMG... Climate Change is real!

Landforms on Mars are shrinking, and it's all our fault!

It's interesting to think that maybe if people stopped farking around with the landscape, Earth could have some of these cool features too.

FTA: "...in a northern region of Mars where in recent years the landforms have been found to be shrinking."

Do you see what we're doing here? This is proof that we are having a negative impact on the terrain on mars! If you look at the charts showing landform distribution on mars you'll note a sharp incline over the last few years! It's not natural it's manmade! All of our probes being sent over there are causing massive winds to occur in the atmosphere which is directly resulting in the loss of mountainous landscape over time! I propose a terrain credit system, where we are regulated in how much wind we can induce over a year in order to reduce aerodynamic terrain disintegration to minimal levels.

We must take measures to prevent Martian Flattening!
