A pissy malcontent who stays out until 3 AM drinking and comes in the next day to score 40 points is going to always have a job and a big paycheck.

A pissy malcontent who stays out til 3 AM drinking and comes in the next day to score 10 points is going to be unemployed.

I'm still forgetting that Allen Iverson went to the Memphis tittyfarking Grizzlies! You're a future-HOF guard. You really want to spend your last years of relevance on a team consisting of scrubs, rookies, second-year players, Zach Randolph, and The Other Gasol brother?

"It's a personal issue that they asked for permission to go attend to," Hollins said. "It was granted, and it's indefinite. I have no other information."

The personal matter is called "getting the fark out and letting y'all deal with this abortion of a team on your own."

As a fan of Mr. Iverson I agree with The Great EZE.

I'm a Memphian so that makes me a Grizzlies fan apologist by default. I can't say I didn't see this coming, and I'm not fully upset by it.

You don't shell out buckets of money for a future HOFer just to have him come off the bench for, a bunch of...what was it?

The Great EZE:scrubs, rookies, second-year players, Zach Randolph, and The Other Gasol brother?

THIS.

This makes me feel a lot better about the way he ended things with the Pistons.

"When I hear anything about the Memphis Grizzlies, I don't hear you guys talk about anything other than the situation with me coming off the bench," he said Friday. "I mean, there's got to be something else with this team to talk about besides that."

I guess we could talk about practice.

Congrats Memphis! News outlets are finally talking about the Grizz in a context other than the draft.

I feel like Allen Iverson and Terrell Owens are linked by fate.

-Both of them are high-scoring, HOF-level players.
-Both of them are headcases who don't get along with their teammates.
-Both of them have bad-boy public images but neither of them have a criminal record (as way too many athletes do nowadays).
-Both of them led a Philadelphia-based team to a championship game / series.
-Both of them are nearing the end of their careers and playing for a crappy team.

Sad stories both. But whatever, they've got hundreds of millions of dollars to their name, they probably don't need my pity.

Good bye little man

I'm sure a contending team will be willing to bring him into the fold. Oh wait a sec? Wasn't the poor attitude he's displaying now the reason why he ended up on the Grizzlies in the first place and not on a contending team?

ai is on the Grizzlies now? just retire man, you are tarnishing your career now.

soj4life: ai is on the Grizzlies now? just retire man, you are tarnishing your career now.

He had $3.5 million reasons to at least show up for a game or two to get his guaranteed money. However, considering the Clippers already said no and Thomas is no longer in charge of the Knicks I think its safe to say he is retiring now whether he wants to or not. Not even the stupid GM's are considering him.

The Grizzlies got sick of his whining as did every team in the NBA and the season just started.

It saddens me to hear that Iverson couldn't make it work with the Grizz. I was completely giddy with anticipation when I found out they signed him, knowing it was entirely possible that he and Randolph would come to blows in the middle of a game. Other than lobbing Twinkies into the post, there's really no way of persuading Randolph to give up the farking ball. It would've been beautiful.

We're sitting here, and I'm supposed to be the franchise player, and we're talking about a regular season game. I mean listen, we're sitting here talking about a regular season game, not a playoff game, not a playoff game, not a playoff game, but we're talking about a regular season game. Not the playoff game that I go out there and die for and play every game like it's my last but we're talking about a regular season game man. How silly is that? ... Now I know that I'm supposed to lead by example and all that but I'm not shoving that aside like it don't mean anything. I know it's important, I honestly do but we're talking about a regular season game. We're talking about a regular season game man. We're talking about a regular season game. We're talking about a regular season game. We're not talking about the playoff game. We're talking about a regular season game. When you come to the arena, and you see me play, you've seen me play right, you've seen me give everything I've got, but we're talking about a regular season game right now. ... Hey I hear you, it's funny to me too, hey it's strange to me too but we're talking about a regular season game man, we're not even talking about the playoff game, when it actually matters, we're talking about a regular season game ... How the hell can I make my teammates better by playing in a regular season game?"

What is the over/under in years from now until Iverson is bankrupt? I'll go five.
