I think the woman on the right - with the more natural hair - is more attractive

Of course, I'm only half their age. Almost exactly ;)

I take it as a sign of how deeply the Internet has corrupted me when the first thing I think is "Hundred year old twins, eh? Double gum-job."

i wonder sometimes how big a part genetics plays.
I had a great grandfather who lived to 104.
Grandfather still alive at 85, has buried 3 wives.
But my grandmother died at 62.
So do I take 104 and 62 and split the dif? 42. Add 42 to 35 and i'll die at... *pushing Little Professor calculator buttons*... 77. Huh.

Depends on what they died from. My grandparents all died from outside sources; smoking cancer x 2, car crash, and complications from an old motorcycle crash (long story). My parents are still extremely healthy into their 50s though, so I am feeling pretty safe.

Woah, they look good, but nowhere near that good. I'd say about 80, tops.

Dyed hair looks weird and wrong.

There are 100 of them.

Father's side:
Grandpa: 65-lung cancer.
Grandma: Tough old bird. Skin cancer twice but died at 82 from complications after an unrelated surgery.
Father: 51-brain cancer.
Aunt: 54-pancreatic/stomach cancer.
Aunt's daughter: 36-liver failure.

Mother's side:
Great Grandma: Early 40s- Leukemia.
Grandpa: 66- Leukemia.
Grandpa's sibings: Various cancers and one suicide, none living past 65ish.

Things do not bode well for Future Omni.

Hard to say. My maternal grandmother will be 101 in February and she's outlived 4 of her 5 children. My mother died of a brain tumour at 54, her deceased siblings of lung cancer and heart failure.

I'd say it doesn't look good.

Good for her, wanting to look nice. Youthfulness is all in your head, anyway. If it makes her feel better, then rock on, centenarian-gal!

They really do look good for 100.

and whoever said 65 to 70 hasn't been around old people much

2009-11-08 09:45:17 AM
FTFA:
Despite their age, they still look alike. However, one sister's hair is white while the other's is red. They have grown accustomed to people doing a double take when they share their age.

Well, yeah, since they're identical twins and all, it shouldn't really be worth mentioning that they look alike.

SwiftFox: I must be a horrible judge of age. I would have guessed 65-70, tops, dye or not.

Yes, yes you are a horrible judge of age. Although, now that the parents of my group of friends are getting into their 60s, I'm starting to realize that 60 doesn't even look that old anymore. Could be that I'm in my 30s, and probably look ancient to teenagers, which would explain why I can never manage to pickup at the local high school... damn.

2009-11-08 09:47:09 AM
Strange question -why do old ladies always have short hair? Is it custom, fashion, some actual reason? Perhaps the modern equivalent to putting one's hair 'up' when one reached a certain age? Always wondered about that one.

If my hair ever decided to turn a pretty, silvery white like that, I'd keep it the length I have it now and probably wear it as I always do. (Standard just-past-shoulders ponytail with a decorative d20 on the elastic. Like a nerdy cheerleader.) Probably won't go that nice a color, though. *sighs*

How long will it take them to blow out 200 candles?
