Denzel Washington was better in the original.

2009-11-06 01:56:16 PM
I hope they use the same special effects

2009-11-06 02:33:25 PM
Okay, those actually look good.

But so did "Troy."

2009-11-06 02:52:51 PM
dunno why, but these gave me the impression that they're veering more towards safe "PG" than "R" with this

Im still looking forward to it

This is the first time I've read a plot outline of the new film, and I have to say it sounds nothing like the original even in broad terms.

AdolfOliverPanties: But so did "Troy."

Hey, I liked Troy.

And I had no idea that they were remaking this movie.

I have very fond memories of the first one, which had bare breasts in it. At least, I seem to remember bare breasts. I was pretty young. Not so young that I didn't recognize bare breasts as something worth noticing, but young. And it had scorpions, and Medusa, and a Pegasus that sometimes lost its wings but was still a pretty good Pegasus, all things considered.

I came for Bubo...the best animatronic ever.

2009-11-06 04:42:33 PM
Needs moar Harryhausen.

2009-11-06 04:56:51 PM
I'll only watch this movie if Perseus Monster Truck (^) makes an appearance.

I know! It's not even in Greek! What were they thinking trying to remake a classic?!?

2009-11-06 05:39:07 PM
Sounds like a CG nightmare. Claymation is way more awesome.

Bubo was indeed the best animatronic creature ever. He was even a badass.

Sighhhhhhhhhh. I wish my clients had these kinds of marketing budgets.

//No, you've never heard of any of them
///Yes, they are Z-budget horror films

The ancient Greeks had the coolest mythology in my opinion, and therefore I will see pretty much any movie based on it.

LOVED Bubo in the original!

Going by the posters, it looks very, very, very bad. :(

Clash of the Titans! Where we take the name but very little else from a (rather average) SFX movie from the Eighties! Yes, we could have called it something else, since we are not bothering with the original movie storyline, but, that would involve thinking! Or creativity! And we didn't have any money left for those after spending it all on CG effects! And just in case you missed that last line: Millions spent on TOTALLY AWESOME COMPUTER GRAPHIC EFFECTS!!!!

2009-11-06 06:28:06 PM
It looks like "300". Please, all my friends think I'm descended from chippendale dancers now as it is, no more, I beg you.

2009-11-06 06:36:25 PM
At least the old movie tried to make the costumes look halfway Greek. The new Perseus looks like a WoW character.

2009-11-06 06:42:10 PM
I'm going to assume that the posters are just prototypes, especially since Sam Worthington/Perseus's expression is exactly the same in both shots. Apparently they only had a couple of frames left on the roll.

2009-11-06 06:44:39 PM
The mechanical Bubo is the obligatory R2D2 stand-in shoehorned into every sci-fi/fantasy contemporary of Star Wars, only better-executed that even lamer examples such as 7-Zark-7 in the Americanized version of Gatchaman. And Bubo's name is Greek for groin. WTF was that supposed to mean?

I'll save my money for something better that month in the area of mythology

God of War would be a GREAT movie but no way hollywood would allow all the gore and violence.

This post reminds me of Pratchett. Specifically Good Omens, but some of his other books too.

Another movie with this fun formula: 150M budget. 100M on actors, 49M on Sfx and 1.50 on the script. Leftovers go to hookers and blow
this will suck like the rest of the remakes.

All I can say is this had better not suck. If it does, Harryhausen's gonna be pissed that his work has been besmirched.

I saw it in the theare in its original run, one of my favorite movies ever.

The original butchered the mythology, so it is hard to get angry at this being different. However, there are key things that make it Clash of the Titans.

1) Pegasus
2) Kraken
3) Medusa
4) Lady tied to a rock face
5) Mechanical Owl
6) Scorpions
7) Calibus

Pegasus seems to be in the posters, as is Medusa. Good
That one seems like a Kraken reminiscient of the original (most media Krakens are giant Squids). No Owl I can see, Calibus is gone...

Calibus is a bad ass and hard to replce. If I wanted Hades I'd watch some Xena or Hercules. Or DCAU. Or Disney's Hercules.

Calibus is so underused in mythological movies and tv, and was so awesome in Class of the Titans.

I can even live with dropping the Owl, or making the Kraken a Squid...but dropping Calibus ruins this movie.

That is like remaking Star Wars without Darth Vader.

SakuraDensetsu: However, there are key things that make it Clash of the Titans.

You forgot the princess' ass.
