Magorn: Xlr8urfark: In before the inevitable Gun Law Flame War.

Well not to kick that off, but this WAS the state where lawmakers were working on on passing a law that forced employers to allow thier employees to carry guns at work.

Here's the problem:

Whether or not people can bring their firearms to work, that will do nothing to prevent shootings. Declaring a place a "gun free zone" doesn't suddenly create a force field that blocks out firearms.

Just a couple of generations ago, most Americans grew up hunting, and learned about guns and gun safety at an early age.

Now, not as many children are as fortunate, and much of the "education" that happens in from movies and tv.\

Sad.

Lollerwaffle: Does this huge influx of violence scare the shiat out of anybody else in our country? I am only 21. I don't know if it was like this when older generations were growing up. Perhaps it was, but just not widespreadly reported because they didnt run news 24-7 back then. Either way, it's a big issue, and I can't grasp why we aren't getting psych type people in schools to teach our kids nonviolent conflict resolution, and doing everything we farking can to figure out what makes people do these awful things and find a way to fix it. We have computers and unmanned drones and MRI machines and a pill for every farking ailment. Why is stopping humans from killing eachother so low on the list? We're supposed to be a country of innovators. Surely this violence can be stopped, slowed, or at least dampened, some how some way.

People have been losing it since we got out of the trees. In my hometown, in the 1650s or so, a man lost it and killed his entire family of nine adults and children. The difference today is the weaponry. It is efficient and very concealable.

Please god no, for once. I'll have to shred my diploma. UVA really has the upper hand on trash talking now. Always did really.

God, you are an idiot.

That's all you have?

Fark off....why don't you tell us what kind of gun laws you would like to see? You're either a wuss or a troll....please let us know which one it is.

That's all you're worth.

So instead of actually indulging in that user's request you just further the childish retorts. That sounds logical.

People should have the right to arm bears but not assault arms as we use arms daily unless you're an amputee.

Yeah, it's too bad there weren't any people with guns at Fort Hood yesterday. Because if the people there had been armed, the shooter would've never done what he did. I said we should allow people to have guns on our military bases to prevent such things in the future!

Kome: militia

The Heller Supreme Court decision stated the Amendment's prefatory clause announces a purpose, but does not limit or expand the scope of the second part, the operative clause.

So everybody please stop using the damn 'militia' argument. It's dead and an instant fail.

At least it wasn't "Goldstein," because then we'd be looking at 70% of the population.
