The bill will ultimately pass the House. Pelosi will not allow a vote to take place until she has her votes, and the instant she does, the vote will take place.

It's pretty much a matter of who's a yes and who's a no. But Pelosi will not allow the bill to die on her side of the chamber.

However, if Republicans use procedural tactics to push the vote back, or to try and poison the bill, Hoyer wants them to be on notice that they could get called back for a vote on Sunday afternoon, Monday, or even Tuesday--the day before Veterans Day.

"Clearly, things happen, and delaying tactics can be employed...all I've done is make sure everybody understands that we're going to complete this effort," Hoyer said.

It's amusing that Subby's reduced to trying to concern troll the inevitable passage because it might happen in 3 or 4 days instead of tomorrow.

http://www.rules.house.gov/amendment_details.aspx?NewsID=4497

And I'm sure those don't have anything to do with a delay. Bachmann's are, of course, particularly amusing.

Also, I'll offer the same bet someone challenged me to in the last HCR thread (and then backed down when I actually wanted to):

One month of TF on HR 3962 not passing in the next seven days.

You want to talk shiat about the bill failing? Back it up. I will.

Should not have had to been an amendment. That should have been in the first draft of every bill that included the Public Option. If it's not good enough for Congress, it's not good enough for the people.

Why? The bill doesn't mandate that anybody be forced onto the public option, only that they have the choice. That same choice is given to members of Congress as it is to anyone else.

Pass, likely not.

But had you said floor vote and debate, I'd taken your bet.

Here are the list (new window) of amendment submitted so far.

In any event, they don't want to go TO fast on this. The house needs to stay more in line with the Senate at this point and give the Senate some time to breathe and reign in lonesome Joe.

Well obviously, but I haven't heard of anybody seriously entertaining the idea that illegal immigrants would be explicitly granted benefits in this bill. Maybe adjustments to how we handle billing them, but anyone can get care in an ER, ya know.

Indeed. But will they get a subsidy to help pay for the public option if they are below a certain income level like everyone else or not?
In other words, will my tax dollars explicitly pay for their health coverage or will we continue to do it the round about way we do now. It sounds like an easy choice. Unless your up for reelection in a conservative district in a border state.

Nope.

They'd have better chance at reelection if they did something to get the base of the party to vote for them in 2012. Holding bravely onto the status quo is a sure recipe for disaster for these conservadems.
