Went to one of those R/C jet thingies a couple years ago. Really farking impressive.... but yes, seriously injured or dead spectators waiting to happen.

I've seen a couple of these RC crash videos, some going very fast not far from the crowd. I agree that somebody is probably going to get hurt one of these days.

RC planes are a few hundred to a couple thousand for the best ones. It's like buying a gaming system or a computer, really.

Ok, that crash definitely wasn't spectacular enough to warrant the triple replay. Besides, slowing down 30 fps video as slow as the last replay was done looks like shiat anyway.

While the fuel is assuredly dangerous, they aren't going fast enough to do any real damage to more than one or two people. I would be confident standing nearby. For one thing, you're looking at them, and for another thing, they're loud as shiat. If you can't get out of the way in time, or if you decide to put your face in the way, then yeah death could happen. Taking one of these in the back, chest, gut, legs, or arms? Bruises, maybe a broken bone or 3.

woulda been funnier if they left the fat guy in the speedo out there on his own. Not that funny, just funnier.

I had one of these, F27 stryker, pusher prop, not a jet, but same V-shape and it flew the same. The hardest thing about these tiny planes is keeping them in view and yourself oriented to their direction, they're so small and so fast that they get 1/4 mile away from you in about 2 seconds, after which it's impossible to see which side is up.

The wedge shape of these makes it harder because there's no clear nose and tail. I had to paint mine black on top, white on the bottom or to keep from losing perspective. That's what it looks like happened here, the pilot wanted to climb, and didn't realize he was inverted, and he hit the ground.

You really have to keep them close to you if you want to have any hope of controlling it. If there was any wind, it would get away from me and I was basically keeping a speck looping in the air 1/2 mile away with no idea whether I was flying closer or further away. On more than one occasion, I'd just throttle back and shut off my radio and let her go down. Stupid, and dangerous, that's why I gave them up.

/A little online search revealed that many of these models travel well in excess of 200 MPH. No, wont kill a "crowd", but 30lbs at that speed could easily kill an individual.
