I see no apology...only a pusillanimous explanation of his tagging impotence.

That is the tagger equivalence of "really, it never happened to me before."

Artist? I think you misspelled "vandal."

I could be wrong, but I believe that's the first time the word "pusillanimous" has been used in a fark thread. We're simple folk here, so we usually go with "wuss" or something along those lines.

scrawled an almost apologetic side-note that read, "ran out of purple," Palm Bay Police Officer Dan Fisher noted.

"We don't know who it is, but the last 'O' is not totally finished. He ran out of purple," Fisher said

That's some fine police work there, Lou.

Meauran: There are few things I find as irksome as graffiti.

Wow. Tagging, yes, when it's just some asshat writing his name as incomprehensibly and in as many places as possible, I'll agree that is senseless attention-whoreyism.

But, when someone obviously takes a lot of time, care and effort into what they do, even if "the message" is vulgar, a lot of the time they turn an otherwise boring brick wall into something you'd actually want to look at.

If it isn't your wall, I don't care how much time, care and effort you put into it.

Here is an honest question, what prevents the vandal from asking permission from the building owner? Nothing?

That'll be a Two-Fark penalty on subby for misuse of the Florida tag...

While it did happen in Florida, it doesn't qualify as goofy enough.

I don't mind graffiti if it's creatively done. For a while I was seeing a lot of fascinating collage art using subway ad posters -- they seem to be easy to cut and peel.

Right now, though, all the Bad Kids in my neighborhood do is scrawl "FARK MY HOLE" on every poster with a Sharpie.

I thought about the Fail tag, but I've been informed by older and wiser souls (i.e. Farkers with account numbers lower than mine) that Florida beats everything except Follow-up.

I recently moved to a really nice neighborhood and I was surprised to see a really crappy piece on the back of a liquor store near me. In my opinion, if you're not painting at places where you have to watch out for bums, crackheads, or railyard cops, then I'm not going to respect you.

I love the graffiti artist dis for a bad writer - toy. That's such a perfect insult.

While I agree that this is not that strange (if fact living in Palm Bay I can say this rates among the most normal things I've seen), I would say the Florida tag trumps Fail. If we have to live in America's wang, at least give us the joy of using our own tag.

Whats with all the Graffitti hate? Sometimes it can be ugly, but more and more often I just see art:

This was a fairly infamous Seattle location that was recently condemned. Graffitti artists turned the whole building into an extremely cool work of art. Link (new window).

"artists" generally buy their own canvases. That's how they avoid being called "criminals"
