Soulless? No, Tats' has more soul than half the farkers on here. However, his loyalty CERTAINLY lies somewhere else than the USA. This, is why you keep your allies that have serious muscle (nuclear weapons) at your shoulder. The trick is, to keep their hand out of your pocket when it should be shaking your hand.

izen: i got out of the army less than 24 hours ago. i just flew home to colorado from Germany, met my parents at the airport and posted my long awaited return to all my friends on facebook. then i opened foxnews and saw this bullshat. how utterly depressing. i went to 6 memorials during my two tours downrange, and these fort hood soldiers are going to have to go to 12 without even deploying. what's worse is that the shooter was a medical officer, and as a medic i spent the last 3 1/2 years working with captains and majors with the same job on a daily basis, including psychiatrists. my heart truly goes out to the victim's families tonight, but OMFG i am glad to be out of the Army!

No, I don't think this is an occasion for levity, I thought that this headline was tasteless and that this is an incredible tragedy. I replied to a comment making fun of conspiracy theorists.

I remember when the site was at least a little less shameful, but this is just pathetic. Flaming internet nazis with an agenda... it's all that this place is except for the occasional caturday joke, and the meme-creating days of this site are definitely over.

Nobody cares because of crap like this over and over and over again. This site has ceased to become relevant to anyone but a handful of fuktards.

"I already blame Obama. He's a weak ass prez that has no clue on how to deal with the enemies of this nation. You can't blame Bush for this one tards."

What's REALLY humorous about that "statement" is that Obama hasn't changed Bush's policies much, if at all...

I pity the sad fark who did this. He was an arab-american muslim with no family and no support structure and apparently few friends, wasn't doing well at his job, living in an environment generally hostile to his race and faith, listening to tales of horror from Iraq and Afghanistan all day every workday, who was then told "hey! You're going over there, to the place where all those awful stories come from, where they kill guys like you all the damn time!"

I'm not even remotely condoning what he did but damn. That's not a life I'd want. Somebody in his command structure should get their ass kicked for not knowing how bad this was for him and how unstable he was.

It was mostly a joke, but there is some truth to it. I don't trust Republicans. Maybe if they seemed more concerned about the country as a whole instead of just other Republicans, I might feel differently. I'm an independent and largely non-partisan... but for the last 9 years they've done nothing but give me reasons not to like or agree with them about most things.

You might be sorry I feel that way... but the GOP isn't... and I'm pretty sure they have no intention of changing their ways. I could be wrong about that, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Tough to claim to be mostly non-partisan after voicing a partisan diatribe.

I take that back. It's very easy to claim such. It's just difficult to have it be believable.

If you are just trolling:

"These days, It seems as if the Bush Administration did nothing right. The list of scandals that Bush and his Administration were and are embroiled in grows longer every day.

Does this disturb you?

If so, take a deep breath and consider: CLINTON DID IT. Just think about that for a second or two. BbbbBill Clinton. William Jefferson Clinton. It was Clinton all along. He did it."

and if you are being genuinely sincere:

Sure, I would've loved it if his opponents had not wasted their opportunities chasing after his private sex life and instead devoted it to serious matters, like possible crimes against humanity in Iraq and the Balkans. But they blew it, willingly, enthusiastically and repeatedly.

But ya gotta start somewhere with these things, and the case against Dubya & Co. is so public, so well researched and so compelling that it makes for a much easier case to try than Bill Clinton's actions in the Balkans.

Of course, I give zero odds of any Justice.

That's why I and millions of other people around the world are making sure that wherever and whenever Dubya and his war criminal buddies dare to leave their safe little cocoon of enablers and apologists and curse our presence with their loathsome inhumanity, we will loudly and angrily denounce and curse them and make the rest of their time here on Earth a living Hell.

Come to think of it, I rather prefer that to The Hague. It's more like a 21st century version of the stocks.

Actually it is, but let's get real, if a white guy who was constantly harassed because of his race went off and started shooting people, a majority of the white guys in here right now complaining about Muslims, would instead be praising the white guy for defending his rights.

CasperImproved: Atypical Person Reading Fark: So they wounded him, stopped his massacre and provided first aid to the victims.

They being the police (of whatever type) who responded?

Good job.

Really sucks that he managed to kill 11 people getting ready to face their own fate - while he gets what he wanted (to stay home in a hospital).

I'd rather he get convicted in short order and sentenced to 450 years in solitary confinement at Fort Leavenworth. No books, tv, radio, no company, no windows. I too think that this is what will ultimately become of him - I've been betting throughout that he won't face execution. I don't know how that will sit with the regular army, but I predict more disgruntlement.

And I agree with whoever said that for some - this guy in particular - living in solitary confinement like a medieval monk, studying the Koran, might have way more appeal than going to Afghanistan.

I guess they're not going to call this an act of terrorism unless they find out he conspired with others (which I doubt). But this morning I'm thinking that I view his act as highly political. He could have just killed himself - or committed some entirely different crime - to get himself out of Afghanistan.

But he chose to engage in battle against American troops and he thought about it a lot, prayed about it no doubt, and ended up believing that's what he wanted to do: wage a personal war against American soldiers. His goal was to protect people in Afghanistan, diminish our ability to fight, and to punish the U.S. Army for its involvement in what he believed was an unjust war.

So maybe not terrorism, but certainly some form of treason.

I don't understand how you could say "not terrorism" after the description you gave. Does OBL have to give the orders himself?

This is certainly political. So is the massive attempt to label it as something other than terrorism.

It's not the best picture, the Lynndie England one's get way more attention.

The soldier is Spc. Sabrina Harman. The body is Manadel al-Jamadi, a suspected terrorist who died in a botched torture session at Abu Ghraib. Here's a picture of the victim's widow and orphan. Link (new window)

Sabrina Harman doesn't deserve any punishment, for her greatest crime appears to be an extreme lack of judgment.

i158.photobucket.com

Apparently she had a lot of photos taken of herself during her duty in Iraq, many with her trademark 'thumbs-up' and nice smile. Sometimes she was with an Iraqi child, sometimes with a local shopkeeper. But somewhere down the line, as inevitably happens in war, her discretion suffered.

I will quickly add that I do not judge her for her behavior, but the images of her joyfully posing with dead bodies and the other abhorrent pictures and descriptions of torture by our armed forces only added to the understandable mistrust and fury of people all over the world.

Bottom line: torture is not funny and I fear and loathe those who make light of it as much as I do the people who fly planes into buildings.

texanb4: The soldier is Spc. Sabrina Harman. The body is Manadel al-Jamadi,

You mean the body in the first pic. (When you say "The body" along with this second pic, a reader thinks "My GOD! WHAT DID THEY DO TO HIM"... of course you probably know this already since you linked me to the first pic and article.)

texanb4: I will quickly add that I do not judge her for her behavior, but the images of her joyfully posing with dead bodies and the other abhorrent pictures and descriptions of torture by our armed forces only added to the understandable mistrust and fury of people all over the world.

It looks like you judge a little, but I agree with the judgement - although I personally have a bit more hate toward those who would circulate these pictures. My guess is you could find similar pics from morgues around the world. Rolling dead bodies around all day probably alters good judgment slightly. Who is the stiff in the second picture?

texanb4: Bottom line: torture is not funny and I fear and loathe those who make light of it as much as I do the people who fly planes into buildings.

Fair enough. Although none of this answers the question of "How will they interrogate now". Oh yeah, Who is the stiff in the second picture?

2009-11-06 02:35:22 PM
YoMammaObama: It looks like you judge a little

You'll have to believe me, I am very reluctant to judge how individuals behave in combat situations. But I judge big time the chicken hawks and other civilians who encourage and condone illegal behavior.

YoMammaObama: Who is the stiff in the second picture?

To the best of my knowledge, he's just that, an unnamed dead Iraqi.

YoMammaObama: "How will they interrogate now"

There is an official policy of interrogation. As long as soldiers abide by it, there's no problem.

woops, dinner guests are here (I'm in England) gotta go!
