David Mitchell is a funny funny man, and part of what he does is say tasteless things. Shock, horror. He's absolutely right to put the onus back on the BBC where it belongs.

I just think it's really nice that someone could take a tragedy like what happened to her, and use the power of a name to turn it into a cool store where teen girls who ARE alive can buy pretty stickers with unicorns and rainbows on them.

She would have wanted girls now to have pimped-out Trapper Keepers.

There is nothing sacred in comedy. Lot of great comedians have joked about all sorts of touchy subjects. You're allowed to feel offended or hurt, but let's not pretend that your being offended is a sufficient reason for other people to censor themselves.

heh - I know one of the head artists for the store you're referring to - he says it's more hell than you could ever imagine, but the pay's pretty good for an artist, so he stays. Even the building looks like Rainbow Brite led the Care Bears in a suicide bombing mission inside.
