I know damn sure that Lithium and Alt Nation on Sirius/XM need to take a break from them. Seriously Alt Nation: Best of You? That's alternative? Really?

Dave,

During your hiatus, please listen to this repeatedly:

And if on the next Foo's album you cover Black Betty, I will hunt you down and personally kick you in the taint.

I don't like the band that much. But I do respect him going away when he knows he should vs. a d-bag like Bono saying rock is dead b/c their latest album has shiaty sales.

Ni!

"the color and the shape" is indeed a masterpiece! i really love foo fighters, but that and "there is nothing left to lose" are my favorites of theirs

Hopefully (insert crappy band here) takes a hint and follows suit

Dear Dave Grohl,

Everything you've ever done outside of the Foo Fighters is awesome. Hopefully you've made enough money doing that to now make more cool stuff instead.

Nothing Left to Loose
has grown on me. For some reason I avoided it for years thinking it was just Foo's Light, but Headwires is a great song.

I've always liked the Foo Fighters more than I should given my tastes that reject most everything punk and post it. Kind of sad news, "Colour" and "Echoes" are really good albums and the rest have at least one great song each.

This Vulture thing seems promising though. Dave belongs behind a kit anyway.

Just as a side note, Them Crooked Vultures released a free single for download before their album comes out (Nov 17th). It's called 'Mind Eraser No Chaser' and you can get it on Itunes for free

or you can use megaupload

The Foo's rock...every album is pretty good stuff. Some of their stuff took a bit to grow on me, but their albums are good a couple are great. I'll eagerly await their next release. TCV might be awesome as well....only heard 1 song & we'll see how that works. That is all.

Works for me, I always like hearing Dave on the drums. It's obvious he's just a guy that likes to play, if you can find it, check out the clip of him backing John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page on drums covering some Zeppelin songs during the Foo Fighter Live At Wembley Stadium show.

Gangway Fathead: 15 years of pretty much consistent popularity is a hell of a run.

i have not rtfa. i read a different very short interview with him, though, about the hiatus. he said he's surprised they've been together 15 years, let alone so successful the whole time. he says they put their all into every album with the thought it could be their last

What's worse is that song is also 8 years old...

/Still piassed about losing Liquid Metal. And Fungus. But now on Faction I can hear H.I.M. and New Found Glory and Box Car Racer! I didn't REALLY want to hear old D.R.I., Dr. Know and Agnostic Front anyway!
//You bet your bippy I canceled my subscription - then got a new one two months later because it's STILL better than FM...
///I swear to GOD If I hear that Gossip song (they even advertise for it on Fark) ONE MORE TIME... WHO FARKING THINKS THAT'S GOOD?! It's like a horrible combination of New Order, that "Happy Hardcore" crap and all the AIDS in Africa!

I still say one of the coolest shows I've ever seen was Foo Fighters at a small club in Kentucky as Color was beginning to take off. They played almost the entire album that night.

My cool story time. My buddy went to the VMA's in Vegas and got really close. The ones where the different bands were playing super exclusive shows in suites at the Palms Casino, where the VMA's were being shot.

The Foo Fighters walk in and he yells "Dave, I want to party with you!" and Dave screams back "I want to party with you!" and keeps walking. 2 minutes later a rep for Foo Fighters comes by and invites my buddy up to the room for the show. He has cell phone video footage of him being 2 feet from Dave in a room with 30 people max while they played Everlong. Party ends, buddy goes down stairs to get into the after hours scene at the pool, but can't get in. Dave walks by sees my buddy and goes "You will want to party with me?" and tells the bouncer "He's with me!".

If you youtube the performance, you'll see they can't get dead on shots because of some guy in a brown backwards hat. That's my buddy.

Hey bros, are we telling cool stories about the Foo Fighters?! They played their first show ever in my friend's apartment...12 years before I knew him...when I was about 17.

I have it DVR'd, well most of it. MHD didn't show the whole entire concert. But 'Rock and Roll' sounded like it was Led Zeppelin right then and there!

Nate just toured with SDRE. They still put on a helluva show.

With no label and a history of being dicked by the industry, don't expect them to put anything out.

/Saw SDRE for the 14th time just last month.

Thought it was Taylor Hawkins who sung that with Brian May & Roger Taylor?
