Am I the only one here who has no idea who the hell this person is?

In Canada, we would have hit him with a snowshoe. Unless it was Nickelback - then it would have been a live grenade.

In the 80's I saw Bruce Dickinson get nailed in the mouth with a boot at the Oakland Colisseum. He promised the audience they would never play there again. They played in San Jose after that.

/He left the stage for 2 or 3 songs.

That's funny. My old man's name is Calvin Harris. He, too, sometimes deserves to get hit in the face with a shoe.

Honestly! Who throws a shoe?

2009-11-04 11:22:36 AM
I thought that's how they said hello there. If they're really feeling friendly, you get a headbutt.

In early 90's (possibly late 80's) I saw megadeth at the Rozemont Horizon (I think) and everybody was throwing sod at Dave Mustain. He told us F off and stormed off stage. It was ok, he was opening for Skid Row

Got dealt a blow?

I don't know who you are. We've never met, and you're just a name in a Fark thread. I don't even think I've seen your handle before.

But I hate you.

TFA: He went down on his knees for maybe 10 seconds, and it looked like he was hurt

It took him 10 seconds to recover? That's pretty supernatural feet
/he should frapp the shoe in gold and hang it on the wall

I thought that was how they said hello in Scotland

Looks like some people in Dundee hate him. He should camouflage himself before leaving hotel
/I think my pun synthesizer overheated

TFA: "But he got up again and told everyone he was all right and started turning it into a joke.

"The people who were supporting him were a bit surprised and the crowd were booing whoever threw the shoe. He kept making a joke about it afterwards and just carried on regardless."

He got over it.

/and no, I have no idea who this is

2009-11-04 12:13:45 PM
Would be funnier if the shoe was covered in dog shiat.

THEE Bruce Dickinson?

Looks like the guy has a little punk rock in him. Good on him for recovering and turning it into a joke. Unless something's broken, the show must go on.

Cool story, bro: One of the craziest bands I used to go see were the Stud Dogs, sort of a blues-punk hybrid type thing. Anyway, one show the singer was so insanely drunk that he was just crawling around the stage while singing. At the end of a song he looks around and says in a really, really thick southern accent, "Has...anyone seen my harmonica?" At this point a beer bottle flies out of the audience and cracks him right in the head, whereupon he collapses for about ten seconds. He struggles to his hands and knees, grabs the microphone, and drawls "That...is not a harmonica." Then finishes the show.

I wonder how Coldplay would have dealt with THAT one.

What kind of pussy doubles over when a shoe hits him? The shoe's right there. It's a flipping All Star. Keep singing, Nancy.

Yep. During the "Somewhere In Time" tour. He said it chipped his tooth. He was extremely pissed.

I wondered that myself. Allstate Arena (nee Rosemont Horizon) is an indoor venue. Maybe Alpine Valley or whatever the hell they're calling the outdoor venue in Tinley Park now?

Reminds me of the time John Cougar Mellencamp was on stage and got hit by a beer bottle. He went off stage for a few minutes, then came back out and sang "Hurts So Good".
