I can understand how this could be inappropriate because of the circumstances, but what's wrong with a priest having pictures of men - even if they were nude photos?

They aren't pictures of kids, they didn't depict the priest doing anything with men, they weren't even pornographic. Even if the priest is gay, there's nothing to indicate he acted on his sexual orientation.

At worst, you can say the priest may have lost the trust of some of his "flock", but he committed no crime and did nothing wrong as far as the teachings of the church.

By that loophole argument, gays that only have sex standing up or oral only should be AOK by the church.

How can anyone with a Bible be a Catholic? I can't get over people giving money to an organization that perpetrates this disgusting fraud on their people. When I was a kid and trying out the whole summer bible class thing there was a book of bible stories for kids that was so homoerotic it was hysterical. Shirtless muscular men, carefully drawn nipples and body hair. The works. The best parts were the Eden, crap, of course, Joseph being sold as a slave, David and Jesus being flogged by a Roman that looked like something from Folsom Street, though that only occured to me years later. It was the beginning of realizing I was gay. So, thanks summer bible school.

This happened at a meeting in my company, except it was full-on hetero pron. The audience was 20 or so mid-level types of mixed gender. Egalitarian: I have it from an inside source that there are a lot of gay Catholic priests, and gay ministers of many other denominations playing it on the down low.

The Catholic Church needs to wise up that you can't turn off the sexual drive for anyone, so remove the celibacy requirement. (And the "having a penis" requirement, too.) Then maybe you'd have sexually normal clergy, hetero and homo, who don't want to molest kids. The celibate man requirement attracts men who are messed up and confused about their sexuality, rather than attracting the most spiritual candidates.

If you removed the celibacy requirement, you would still have married kiddie diddlers. It most likely doesn't change once you get a ring on your finger.
