I think that this is actually a pretty big deal for MLB. Maybe not so much for the rest of the civilized world, but definitely for baseball. These guys won't even use instant replay to prevent the outcome of playoff games from being completely screwed. I just find it a little hard to believe that Bud Selig knew anything about this before the sale of the team was complete. He just seems too old fashioned.

Ah, yes-- as I recall, the sale was finalized when the NHL was assured the team name would not become the Hartford Seamen or Hartford Sperm Whalers.
