Well, in his defense, Bird Law is not governed by reason. I have no choice but to clare Kangaroo court

I know EXACTLY what he needs to do. Unfortunately, I'm 2 weeks away from my GED in law and I can't tell him or I would go to jail for giving legal advice without a license.

2009-11-02 11:44:37 PM
I only know obscure sexual laws. My expertise will only help if he was caught farking turtle while in a rainstorm.

/he's be fine as long as he wasn't taking the Lord's name in vain at the same time

Luckily I have a GED in law so I'll take the case pro boner.

But how good was his legal advice?

Five bucks says he was just as good at law-talking-stuff as a real lawyer.

From TFA, it's not entirely clear that he's a nutjob, con artist, or idiot.

"Professionals" hate it when everyday people pull aside the curtain and show just how basic a lot of what they know/do really is.

FTFA:
The justices want him to sign an agreement saying he won't give any more advice before they will free him.

"If I sign that document, I'm giving them personal and subject matter jurisdiction," Price said. "I'm not about to do that.

Okay, if this is a correct quote, he's just shown that he has no business giving legal advice.

Subject matter jurisdiction either exists or it does not. It cannot be created or destroyed by the parties.

/not a lawyer; not legal advice
//not to be taken internally
///may cause drowsiness -- alcohol may intensify this effect

Find a lawyer.

2009-11-02 11:49:15 PM
"The pro se litigant issue isn't going to go away," Valdez said. "You'll always have people who can't afford lawyers. Going into it, you want to make sure they have enough knowledge."

Indeed. Some counties have pro-se offices that carry boiler plate documents, practical guides, and personnel allotted to answer procedural questions. Many more do not, however.

In December 2007, the Supreme Court prohibited Price from acting as anyone's attorney or providing legal advice.

So does this mean when H & R Block gives you legal advice regarding your taxes it is illegal?

Except she's not licensed to practice in his state and would need to be granted permission by the court. And right now I doubt there's a judge in the country who'd let her argue a parking violation let alone a case that deals with a nutbar.

Meh, We're making it up most (read: all) of the time, but it's a "really-informed" guess, so I suppose the guy should fry.

Anyway, since he's being held for contempt, he's stuck there until he concedes to the courts authority, so really all he needs to do is sign that he promises and crosses his heart that he won't do it again, and he could always initiate his BS civil rights claim through some sort of argument that boils down to "why I don't understand the law yet feel that I should practice it regardless of the public's need for competent representation."

The Kansas Supreme Court is the august body that's responsible for approving the character and fitness reports of, and giving law licenses to, a gaggle of the Phelps Bible Klan.

That I'm now expected to believe that the Court looks dimly at lunatics and lackwits practicing law in their fair state strains my credulity just a tidge.
