I have read alot about pthalates lately and am appalled at how common of an ingredient in cheap children's lip gloss and cosmetics they are. I won't let my child use these cheap products, it's scary that many adult products are currently safer for everyone than kiddie makeup.

It's activating versus organizing effects. A testosterone surge before/around birth masculinizes the brain. Of course it's more complicated than that, but yes it is a factor. By blunting this spike you can make gay animals.

It's worth pointing out that many Native American cultures actually did have an accepted tribal role for "girly men". They were often the ones that were in charge of organizing religious rituals and making sure that the outfits/jewelry/makeup was done correctly.
